It also wasn’t me bidding for that figure, as I received one some years ago from The Man.
This last auction was finished at GBP 186,79 which is € 211,21.
This is quite a lot for a single figure. But remember that the last M16 (in prestine condition) sold in an auction was even much more expensive.April 21, 2011 at 11:25 am #17000It was not me neither.
Master protozeus and Turambar, I share your wonders too. But it does not make me angry.
If anyone, CT is the one who has rights to do anything with mithrils isn’t he ?April 21, 2011 at 12:02 pm #17001Ad Master Turambar: Fully agreed, I wanted to support your position, here.
Also: Happy Easter to everybody! (… to be read on Sunday.)
Ad Master Milo: Well, not angry, no. But as you aptly formulated: wondering. This could all be a bit more transparent. Maybe it isn’t (at least in part) also for reasons beyond the control of Man and Mitrhil, e.g., the evil ME enter-empire-prise … but this is really just speculation.
April 21, 2011 at 1:37 pm #17002Hmm…. if I’m not wrong, Master CT sculpts the minis and then he makes the mould for the master figure, to cast the masters and send them to Mithril. So I guess he keeps the master mould.
April 21, 2011 at 2:28 pm #17004Well, all in all it is a fact that Master Tubb has created those figures by sculpting them.
With this he’s owning the right to sell or not sell them. Maybe even recast some of them. That’s up to him, right? – Please mind that this “Dwar-figure” was one of his own ideas, not at all connected with PA/Mithril or any licences. It was the same with the two “lost armies” and other miniatures. All of them were sold by “Phaeton Design”, not by Mithril.
But also mind, please, that he doesn’t feel well about the prices such figures achieve on Ebay. He confirmed that more than once to me. – Couldn’t it be that he just wants to provide access for collectors to complete their collection by being able to add some rarities?
Ok, one might discuss if it would have been better to do that on an “buy-it-now” auction for a fixed price, as he did with the two “lost armies”. – But, as I said before, I think it really is up to him, isn’t it?
As for casting, Master Hsf62, I know that Mr Tubb took it on his own to fly from England to Macroom just for controlling the mould-making of the “Unexpected Party”. Though this doesn’t mean that he might have some possibilities to cast figures himself. About this I really do not know.
April 21, 2011 at 3:49 pm #17009You are right Master Ent, it is his creation. I think the point everyone (not satisfyed in whatever way)is trying to make is pure the point “this is the last set I’m selling” NOT! Because it happened to often the after the last set was sold another “set/figure” appeared again.
April 21, 2011 at 10:22 pm #17017Exactly! Therefore I only have take a look in my mail box . . . you know.
April 22, 2011 at 1:08 pm #17020Christoph, your parcel went out on thursday as promised! Yeeehaa I did it! 😆
April 22, 2011 at 1:25 pm #17021Any picture ?
I am really looking forward to see the final sketch.:cool::cool::cool:April 22, 2011 at 1:55 pm #17023Sure you’re in the right thread here?
December 6, 2011 at 10:49 am #22048my 2 cents on Dwar of waw ebay auction old post. The item was removed by fear of illegal copies.
“Hi Thijl
Thank you for your email. I have reluctantly decided to withdraw the M series Dwar from Ebay due to the increased amount of pirating of rare Mithril figures that is occurring. This is a practice both unfair to Mithril collectors who have paid a great deal of money to complete their collections and who might be buying fakes and also to me. I suppose that the final straw came the other day with some postings on the Mithril forum where contributors were openly discussing how to obtain the Dwar figure in order to get it pirated.
Even if the original perpetrator gives his pirated copies away , they often end up being sold as originals.
Therefore for the time being I will no longer be selling any of the old and valuable Mithril items on Ebay. This includes Dwar, some Wilderland pieces that I have, some of the abandoned Dol Guldur series, an unreleased mounted Hobbit and the remaining Mw dwarves that I have. I was intending to put these figures on Ebay on a buy-it-now basis at a reasonable price, but I have recently discovered that the special Galadriel figure, most of which I actually gave away, has also been pirated.
I will continue to put the more common Mithril figures that I still have on Ebay from time to timeChris

June 23, 2013 at 12:37 pm #28098Well, quite some time has passed since I last took care of this place. But today I have some time to Show you one more picture.
May be someone can detect something unusual in it. Just have a look (sorry, the quality could have been better, I know, but it’s just for fun, you know).[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/9_two_dwaws_and_others_1.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/9_two_dwaws_and_others_1.jpg[/imgz]
June 23, 2013 at 2:22 pm #28100Oh, I forgot to mention that all the figures you can see in the picture definetively are originals. I could prove that.
June 23, 2013 at 4:46 pm #28101Huom, I always thought a Sunday afternoon is a nice time to visit a museum. Must be different here in Bree.
Well, it’s only about some pics I took today. I wonder if anybody else around here would have the chance to provide pics of the Dwaw of Waw prototype in which the assembled version is contrasted to the casting with the arm still at the base. Sometimes I just try to Keep record, so I asked the second Dwaw to call in here for to take some pictures. I hope you enjoy …[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/9_2_dwaws_3.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/9_2_dwaws_3.jpg[/imgz]
[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/9_2_dwaws_4.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/9_2_dwaws_4.jpg[/imgz]
I think that’s it for today.
June 23, 2013 at 5:24 pm #28102it is really a pleasure to see these photos….. !
June 23, 2013 at 6:14 pm #28107Wow, this is something I miss and love to see both together ! You are a lucky tree (man) master Ent.
June 24, 2013 at 11:04 am #28109Ahhh, that good old Dwaw/Dwar of Waw discussion . . .
Well interesting at this point would be HOW MANY prototypes exsist.
I know, that Master gildor has one (because he has got EVERY figure 😎 ), we see that Master Theobald has got TWO ( ! ),
Master Protozeus claimed before to own one example. Watching Master Henk Scholts testimonial we can see one in his glass cabinett.
And there is one figure the Man holds still. So there are 6 Dwar prototypes so far . . .
Any other hidden member you is proud of having one ?June 24, 2013 at 1:37 pm #28111Hi Master Archer
I am also an happy collector of one of the Dwar got directly form the man.
June 24, 2013 at 7:14 pm #28115…. hmmmm. An interesting story about these figures. Who knows how many of them there are still around….
June 24, 2013 at 10:32 pm #28118. . . well this is exactly what I am investigating, Master Thingol. 😎
At the moment – including the edition from Master Mornedhel- there are seven figures around.
