Elven boats?

I have ordered one of these to see if it is worth ordering another two. Perhaps a bit chunky for a well crafted Elven boat, but we’ll see .

. . . why not, David. I think it needs a little conversion, but I think the boat as a base is quiete perfect.
By the way, this is a very interested link.
PS: remember our little conversation concerning the Cog. You remember that !?

A already have one of these and just gave him a slightler longer prow with Greenstuff. I plan to put in a Boromir and make a diorama where it just passes Faramir, wading into kneehigh water. An old vignette-suggestion that will likely only see life when I make it myself.

The boat is great, and looks real fine. Just order three for the fellowship, you won`t regret it.

Yes indeed Rita.de, and although I haven’t progressed too far with the ship I have been ‘blocking in’ the figures with paint and hope to get back to it soon .

Re the quality of the ships from the different companies, the Cog is of the highest quality moulding and is better than the Revell ships, obviously i cannot comment on other Zvelta models as I do not have any, but as soon as I opened the box in the shop to check, I was immediately impressed. This may be that the Revel kits are older models, I do not know, but painted I guess only the most critical viewer will notice anything.

And the ‘Tree’ has given me an idea from his suggestion about Queen Beruthiel being set adrift……, but then I have had so many ideas, just can’t find the time, lol.

I had given up bying models by Revell when I discovered the inside of my Millenium Falcon-box from Star Wars.
But this is another hobby and should NOT be discussed here 😎

Thomarillion have recently added to their range an interesting contender for use as a Middle-earth boat, albeit with wargaming rather than diorama use in mind. Take a look:

The prow, stern and deck fittings come separately, to render the vessel either a Corsair ship, a ‘Swan’ ship (Dol Amroth? Elves?), or a ‘Dragon’ ship (a nice figurehead that could also be used as an alternative Corsair vessel). The basic hull is very good and not especially expensive – though the £/Euro exchange rate is currently a bit off-putting. The additional deck fittings, however, are rather flimsy, and I may end up re-modelling these from scratch.

Thomas admits that the basic ship concept was inspired by the Corsairs’ ‘black ships’ in the ROTK movie.

Anyone interested in wargaming the Siege of Minas Tirith should take a look at Thomarillion’s ‘Grond’ siege-engine too, likewise based (very closely indeed!) on the ROTK movie – a superb model that I’ve bought to build when I ever find any free time at the Pony. As if…

Warner Bros’ lawyers have now descended on Thomarillion with threats of lawsuits, and they’ve started deleting a lot of their best releases to avoid potential litigation. Grond, the East Gate of Moria, the Tom, Bert & Harry trolls, and the Troll drummer are just a few of the items that have sadly vanished from their catalogue. The Corsair ship is still there at the moment, and I think will survive since it is not an obvious copy of the movie version.

Makes me very glad that I got my Grond when I did, even though I haven’t had the time as yet to build it!
