I’m going to call this one done (at last). There are a few tweaks that could/will be made as is usually the case in projects like this. I’ve included a fair amount of images, some using a filter, some the flash, sadly despite having daylight it was a bit windy in this corner of England.
The Swan is an old plastic ornament which I have had for several years – the story behind this is that long before Legolas and Gimli in the Lorien boat was suggested, and Tom Writch’s generous decision to commission the other two boats, the Boromir’s funeral boat release was purchased (four times) as I was aiming to convert some figures to create just this scene. Thanks to my slow output I didn’t have to do this.[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/11_farewell_to_lothlorien_24.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/11_farewell_to_lothlorien_24.jpg[/imgz]

I guess this is a case of if you wait long enough what you want (in Mithril terms) will eventually be suggested. Big thanks must also go to Tom who literally made this possible by commissioning Mithril to produce the final bits of the ‘jigsaw’. I hope this diorama will inspire others to add these boats to their collections.

Just glad it’s done LOL
November 21, 2019 at 8:27 am #38147That’s a beautiful diorama, master ddaines. Not only the figures look great but also all the scenery details and the complete setup. And that water looks real! And clear. no pollution in Lorien 😎
November 21, 2019 at 9:17 am #38148This diorama is a true and wonderful manifestation of the Tolkien world… all compliments Master David…
November 21, 2019 at 1:05 pm #38149huoooommm … that really is a wonderful diorama that also shows your perfect skills, Master Ddaines. All my respect. … huom… and yes, I would like to join into your big thanks to Tom …
November 21, 2019 at 8:02 pm #38150Thank you all for the kind comments. another one ‘ticked’ off my list of projects
November 24, 2019 at 9:45 pm #38161Wahou David, I am in love with this one !!!!!!
so many marvelous ideas togehter with improved skills every time to show us a new diorama.
BravoNovember 25, 2019 at 8:25 am #38164I’m so impressed, that I instantly ordered Acrylic Water for dioramas…
November 25, 2019 at 11:53 am #38166Beautiful and clean river water… you have a master on managing resin water currents! It really seems lively water!
Your miniature painting keeps improving each time a see a miniature painted by you!
PS: If I would criticise something.. I would say that the boats look a little bit out of place. I mean, they are completely clean like “out of the box”. But that is a thing that you may already have contemplated, since it is not finished yet.
November 26, 2019 at 12:10 pm #38171I cry of joy with this amazing diorama! A truly masterwork.
November 26, 2019 at 9:15 pm #38172Too big to participate in the Trophy Mithril Maniac, what a pity, but what achievement !
Congratulations ddainesNovember 27, 2019 at 5:53 pm #38174Thingol wrote:I’m so impressed, that I instantly ordered Acrylic Water for dioramas…Be very careful Nino that everything is thoroughly sealed because this stuff seems to find the smallest of gaps to leak out of. I’m not sure if it can ‘pass through’ unsealed ground material (sculptamold in this instance), but that is all I can think of, as I did test with actual water and none leaked, but I have a ‘nice’ puddle of acrylic water on the bench
Don’t forget though that apart from the disturbed water near the boats, the ripple effect was ModPodge Gloss glue which you blow on to create the ripple effect

Thank you Maenas
. Re the boats, I am guessing that as they are ‘newly’ gifted by the elves then their condition would be new, but sometimes in miniature it can be difficult to replicate all ‘conditions’; I will certainly be giving the other set of boats a more weathered look as they will have travelled some leagues down the Anduin by then
.

Hm.. I bought few days ago this product https://www.migjimenez.com/en/115-acrylic-water
Yesterday, I tested it under the stone where Goldbery sits. That one – https://mithril.ie/miniatures/miniatures-by-race/lord-of-the-rings-creatures/lr28-lotr-goldberry-32mm-scale-metal-miniature/ and I need to wait 24 hours for result…. hm..
November 28, 2019 at 8:48 pm #38177Not aware of this product Nino, but depending on the room temperature they can take a little while to cure (don’t forget to cover it in case dust or spiders (yes, I forgot to mention that a small spider was entombed just behind the Swan boat
).
