March 31, 2011 at 12:47 pm #16451I will check the arm and let you know. It is true I never had a look on this detail.
March 31, 2011 at 1:30 pm #16453There are two poses, right paw up and right paw down. The right paw up is the classic, the other one’s a so-called “rarity” – though all this is strange. Mind, there also is this mounted captain (B1) of the Mw336 with the horse’s left front leg “bend” or “stretched”. Some years ago I contacted The Man about all this and he had a very simple explanation.
March 31, 2011 at 1:33 pm #16454Thanks master Ent. I did not know about the leg story. But I think you are talking about gondor warband, so [mith]MW337[/mith]. I will take a look at mine.
March 31, 2011 at 3:15 pm #16457The picture Gildor provided clearly shows the horse of the B1 with a left leg up. I don’t know where he took that picture from, at least it must be a very old one.
The pose of the horse you have in all the boxed sets is the one as it was designed (bended left front leg). Years ago, when Mithril was selling some “Masters” of the army (for a reasonable price) I bought two “Masters”. One of them is the B1.
Later I asked Chris about the differences in pose of the bear and that mounted officer. The only explanation he could give was that he thought that some figures were taken out of the mould before they were “cooled down” enough. So extended parts of figures might be bended that way.
Anyway, what stands in front of me is the “Master”-casting of the B1.
Maybe our Master Caster could help if Chris’ explanation could be right.March 31, 2011 at 6:21 pm #16470I checked my gondor captain’s horse has leg bended.
Master Imisel, the extra “Beorn as bear” turns to be a “Mithril classic” one.
If you want it, let me know.March 31, 2011 at 7:15 pm #16472Theobald wrote:Later I asked Chris about the differences in pose of the bear and that mounted officer. March 31, 2011 at 11:58 pm #16476Strange explanation from Master Chris. First of all, if it was bend, then the horse with the leg down would be the original. I compared both next to each other and I’m 100% sure you would not be able to bend the leg down in the position it is. Might be possible to bend it the other way….
I don’t know what metal is used for the masters, but to bend a leg like that you need quite some force.
Pewter is not like it goes from liquid form into “rubber” like consistensy to become hard. If it is to hot still and you try to bend it, it will brake!. After that stage it is hard, still hot, but hard! Have fun bending…:rolleyes:April 1, 2011 at 6:27 am #16477Milo wrote:I checked my gondor captain’s horse has leg bended.Master Imisel, the extra “Beorn as bear” turns to be a “Mithril classic” one.
If you want it, let me know. No, thanks, Milo… I have the classic one yet. Thanks a lot for checking it.

Imisel
April 1, 2011 at 7:49 am #16478OK, I think I will keep it for the carrock. A bear in the cave can be usefull. 😎

April 1, 2011 at 8:52 am #16480A good explanation, Master Blaster. . . ähh Caster!
That fits what I was thinking about. Also, if you bend the leg you will see somekind of traces on the material, don´t you!?
But anyway . . .April 1, 2011 at 12:25 pm #16481You are right Master Archer, I can’t imagine you would be able to bend the leg of the horse, no matter if it is hot or cold metal, no to this extend, but what do I know.
