I had an idea today… a project, a bit similar to the Travelling Elrond project… involving all the MMP community
it would require the skills of all of us who are good or even expert in these matters :
-casting/sculpting/converting (eg:holger)
-diorama building (eg: ddaines, Turambar, Thingol, Milo, etc…)
-painting (eg. Cameosis, Wendy, Turambar, etc )
-background / environnemental scenery and picture taking (eg. Thingol, Turambar…)to make a slighly big vignette…
“the Many Mithril Page Community (MMP) at the Prancing Poney”
a representation of ourselves, based on our characters on this forum, which, for many of them, exist in the mithril range “as is” (like myself or Barliman) or approximative (Ent, ranger in a corner, hobbits, archer of Dale, mistress of Golden Hall, orcs) but converted (if need be)so they are fitting as a scene around a taproom…
this, would be a benevolent project using, as most as possible, non-rare figurines matching yourself, converted by expert casters, put into scene in a Taproom diorama by expert diorama makers, painted by good painted, and the diorama itself put into a “natural environment”… this is a BIG and LONG project involving SKILLS from many of us, and most certainly “shipments” all around the world between all of the contributors bt this would be an artifact, a concrete item of our whole community, as a souvenir object…
the idea in itself has some interest I think… I think that in the end, we should, if all agree… OFFER the final work (after having taken a LOT of pictures) to Chris Tubb, as a gift in return for all that HE does for ourselves…
what do you think about it?

July 22, 2011 at 7:10 pm #18750Sounds like a good idea Gildor, especially gifting it to CT at the end .
I would suggest that when a final idea has been selected you take into account the logistics of getting it to Chris himself and indeed the component parts etc, to the various ‘players’.
July 22, 2011 at 7:38 pm #18752I can indeed manage this project and the logistics once decisions have been made but all of us should contribute to at least, his own representation and which figurine should be used…
the problem about conversions… and with Chris Tubb who likes conversions but does not tolerate ANY kind of recast will have to be taken into account…
July 22, 2011 at 8:47 pm #18758I think that this is awesome idea Master Gildor. This project is something great and ambicious. I think that approximately duration of this project could be minimum 2 years (shipping between destinations are included). I would recommend that we must avoid in final shipping of whole diorama. It is to big risk to broke it…etc. Also if you decide do go into this project I will be happy to do some parts of diorama in general, some painting works… and I will convert one hobbit… I think that figure of Thingol is to complicated for conversions (unless in the meantime, appears a figure of some elf suitable for conversion) Anyway you have may support and I have one suggestion. I think that many of us could do here great job but I’m sure that for final touch should be chosen Master Turambar !!!
July 22, 2011 at 9:29 pm #18762For sure, you can consider I’m in this very nice project.
I love the idea of offering the final result to the man.
I think we also could all meet in a “final assembling meeting”. this to optimise logistics if the prancing pony items turn to be quite numerous.I will check whic hobbit I prefer, even if I know a Milo conversion is on going somewhere.
July 22, 2011 at 10:06 pm #18764feel free to use the “advanced search” option of my database to find PRECISELY which figurine would fit you the best… that’s the first step… Then it is also important to have a listing of ALL the participants to know how big (in terms of number of “actors”) the vignette will be
I need a converted elf, drinking something , and I thought Holger was working on that one maybe, which also inspired me I must say…
July 22, 2011 at 10:17 pm #18766I think a conversion of [mith]MS557[/mith] with something else than the harp, or the use of one of the elves from [mith]MV373[/mith] could do, for me

How does that fit together?? I think I’m not into this…. “Chris” project.
I rather go ahead with my own project… got most of us covered alreadyJuly 24, 2011 at 12:20 pm #18776I might forgive, but I don’t forget!
July 24, 2011 at 2:07 pm #18777you’re right master caster, and well this is juste an idea at the time being, it may or may not happen in the end
July 24, 2011 at 3:23 pm #18778I shall help.
I need to figure out who I should be though :p
July 24, 2011 at 3:24 pm #18779Besides, a conversion doesn’t need to be a recast.
July 24, 2011 at 4:04 pm #18780Logistics: It’s a damn sight easier to move a big thingie from France to the UK than from North America, so I suggest the ones on this side of the ocean stick to figures, and let the Europeans make the bigger pieces.
As for a theme: how about that moment when Galadriel and Celeborn say farewell to Treebeard in Dunland? There were Rangers, Hobbits, Elves and very possibly Gondorian escorts and maybe even some Dunmen looking on.
July 24, 2011 at 5:23 pm #18781well the theme would have been the Taproom to symbolise the MMP community, it has to be tolkien-like but not a scene from the LOTR…. it is our “soul”, “essence” that I try to show… and usually the taproom and the regular conversations and drink sharing we have here are the main side of MMP.
indeed this can be otherwise but I would have liked it to be this image…
July 24, 2011 at 5:43 pm #18782That’s as good
July 25, 2011 at 3:40 am #18788The taproom of course, where otherwise do we meet….

July 25, 2011 at 9:10 am #18792Stuttgart?! Is this The MIDDLE?! I only can confirm that meeting MMP members is extraordinary amazing . . .
Well, Gildor, I am your man!
July 25, 2011 at 9:38 am #18797so let’s begin working seriously on this project if there are motivated people but for security reasons, it would be wise to do so in Angrenost or else, Google may reach this info and this is to remain a private project so far. So I Move this thread
So far we have the following participants to be displayed in the vignette
– Gildor (MS557 or MV373 converted)
– David Daines
– Thingol
– Turambar
– Milo
– Gavin
– TheobaldPlease post if you want to be part of the vignette, and choose the figurine you want to represent yourself
