August 19, 2011 at 5:46 am #19693The other thing would be for everyone to post here what you want to be and the prefered mini you’d like to see. Just in case there was a change of mind re Gavins first approach…

August 26, 2011 at 10:20 am #19830About the house for Prancing Pony, if you agree and like it, I can donate the “Aubergue Medievale” from Fenryll miniatures (a former one, not the current that they sell in they web page). I bought it many years ago, and I have no time nor talent to make a good job with it – So I can apport it for this nice project. I’ll try so upload some photos this afternoon so you can have more information about it and give your opinion.
August 26, 2011 at 12:17 pm #19833Hmm, first I think we should decide finerly if it will be a “Pony set” for all regulars in the pony, meaning that every one will receive a set of these converted and there for recasted minis, or if you only want to make a set for Chris, meaning there are only converted and painted minis as a gift for Chris, because he doesn’t like conversions to be recasted….?????
Gildor might start a poll!? To find out about this matter. I guess most of you know my opinion regarding this matter.August 26, 2011 at 1:14 pm #19837hsf62 wrote:Hmm, first I think we should decide finerly if it will be a “Pony set” for all regulars in the pony, meaning that every one will receive a set of these converted and there for recasted minis, or if you only want to make a set for Chris, meaning there are only converted and painted minis as a gift for Chris, because he doesn’t like conversions to be recasted….?????

August 26, 2011 at 10:49 pm #19839Can you post a link of the Fenryl auberge, Master imisel? I am not quiet sure about Fenryl . . . Without having an alternative yet.

I wonder if maybe some of you prefer blisters ? I guess everyone agrees that any trade for free is possible for [mith]M115[/mith], [mith]M116[/mith], [mith]M117[/mith], [mith]M120[/mith] as Blisters will not rest in MMP vignette ! 😆
BTW, regarding my expenses so far, it was 40€ for 1st set (MINT ones) + 37€8 for 2nd set (MIB from attic treasure).
August 29, 2011 at 7:06 pm #19892…we must divide the cost per head. But before we must count how many of us have participation in the project and divide 40 Euros with that number… It must be a common expense… We must also decide who will have all of these figures, or who will be responsible for painting job… for all or many of us for few…. !!!
August 29, 2011 at 9:17 pm #19900I agree Master thingol but no hurry on dividing anything yet. I guess these will not be the only expenses.
regarding painting, I guess every painter should have a set.
On my side, I paint slowly and not so often so I can manage 1 painting ([mith]M121[/mith] as a start).
I am more interrested by working on the pony itself and its furnitures. As I will sent miniatures to many of us, just tell me which one I shall add to your parcels. Then once painted, Gildor could collect everyone’s work.
August 30, 2011 at 1:46 am #19904Should we send the figures for the Pony to Master Caster? We can each send our own, or make arrangements with others like Milo for the figures he’s already purchased. We would have to get the agreement of Holger of course, and then discuss with him, if he is willing. And we should be willing to provide some compensation for his time and supplies. As for painting, I think each could do their own, or ask/trade/pay someone else to do it.
And Master Caster, please remember that Chris did not care at all about conversions–or recasted conversions. It was fear that “exact” recasts of rares like Dwaw and the Galadriel promo would end up on ebay that caused him concern.
August 30, 2011 at 7:51 am #19907Sorry Tom, have to correct you. CT doesn’t like casting at all! The following was written by CT and posted by Gildor.
“I have been asked by Christophe to say a few words as to what I feel about converting Mithril figures.
My attitude to converting Mithril or any other figures is an extremely positive one.
Converting figures is creative and can achieve some incredible results. It is a key part of the hobby and I am sure that all of us have taken pleasure in customising a bought figure to something especally our own.My objections were and are to the moulding and casting of either originals or conversions, not to converting individual
one-off figures.
Converting figures is a very important aspect of miniature collecting and long may it continue.Chris Tubb”
I will say a little more later re the figures Master Milo has….
August 30, 2011 at 8:01 am #19908I have to agree with Holger here but also somehow with Tom
Chris does not like recasts… even for conversions he prefers that those are done using originals… the statement he has made was his official one and should remain so as he wants to remain true to his ideals and beliefs…
Actually he would have nothing against recasts, provided they are clearly identified as recast and cannot , in anyway be sold/exchanged as genuine thus generating passive or active piracy. His ideal would be to have certificates of authenticity THUS allowing for recasts… having the original blisters is always a proof of authenticity that’s why I always keep my blisters…
Also there is another problem, recasting a tolkien related miniatures for “business” purpose would be a copyright violation, and generates awesome licence problem, not with the man, but with Middle-Earth Enterprise… But this does not concern this project as this is a non-profitable, non business, not to be sold project….
All in all, I think the man would close his eyes gladly on the project as far as he remains unconcerned personnaly by it… and I don’t feel like talking to him about such a project at the moment… nor include it….
finding a way to have recast clearly identified to be not genuine would solve all problems about it… (have a slight modification on the cast making it a “variant/conversion” at the casting step, using lighter our heavier alloys, changing the shape of the base, removing any information written below the base…
such thingsbut I can see people are divised on the topic so I will do as was suggested, open a poll about the finality of this project (recast for each of us with Chris, without , or gift to Chris)
