Yes, Presto247365, you’re right, of course. I simply forgot to mention the fact that some of the figures were given away by Chris as a gift. Besides those three you mentioned also one pikeman-version was given away as a gift before the complete pikemen-set appeared on Ebay.

About the two lost figures I tried to find out everything I could. Chris confirmed that they definitely are lost as he tried to find them himself while that army was offered on Ebay. Without success. I also contacted Henk Scholtz about this matter. He was the only one who was able to provide a complete list of those figures on the old MMP page about one or two years before the first of those figures “saw the light” on Ebay. He then was just passing on information. But in his old listing those two figures were not mentioned with a subreference. They were just referred to as being lost. So that might have been in 2003 or even earlier.

Presto and Theobald, thank you very much for recreating the chronological history of the Mw347. I don´t know.;)
Indeed, I fear that the “gifts” are missing me …:(

It really is funny . Nobody else has the Mw347 without undercoat? Let’s see if I have some time to “dust” my Mw347 and I will do a photo ….. :)

Who knows? Maybe I have a rarity ….:D

Well, dearest mithril enthusiasts, once more it is very interesting being part of this community. But, for me as an owner of some Lost-Range Halforcs myself, there is the question of the right number, the right ID. Master Gildor put in his database for Saruman´s halforcs the ID: MW 346 ! Master Theobald informs everybody about the MW 347 . . .:|
Being confused in the meantime, I would like to ask for the right ID. Please give us a help.
By the way, Master Theobald: this is a fantastic post !

            some enlightment….
on ebay, when they first appeared and then always afterwards…. Chris Tubb mentionned the half orcs to be MW347, and the dwarves to be MW346… thus they were most commonly called this way around… but the half orcs were meant to be released prior to the dwarves. That’s why the half orcs subreferences begin with a C (while the gondor army and mordor orcs begin with A and B) and dwarves begin with nothing because they did not reach the stage of subreferencing.
On the back of the big blister coming along the MW336 and MW337 releases, the two MW346 and MW347 were announced as upcoming. And MW346 was half orcs, and MW347 were dwarfs.. this referencing was thus the one planned by Mithril.

I know about that background, but I just stuck to the way Chris Tubb announced and sold them. To me it does not really matter, but of course Gildor is always very exact with his database.

Ah ha, so thank you very much Gildor for this information.
So, finally I can say, that the correct ID for my halforks is the MW 346, as I can see in the database, is that correct ?
                I need a: yes, that´s correct, Christoph ! ;)

Yes, that’s correct, rita.de. Gildor is correct about this matter.

yes christoph that is correct though you will never see half orcs as mw346 on ebay ;) nor dwarves as mw347

Well, they aren´t good pictures (like all the pictures I do :() but I think it shows that they are without undercoat

You are a very lucky man, erchamion. That what I see there makes me breathless ( Gildor, there is no smily for that . . . )
Well, the fotos are quiet good. I think, you have them all, is that right. And also very nice putted in that marvellous carrying case from mithril: praiseworthy !
But, you have to paint them amd put them into a diorama . . . :D

A very nice collection and strangely without undercoating. No, rita.de, these are not all there are. Here one spearman, one swodsman and one archer is missing. The complete range constists of 20 figures.
And by the way, as a collector I wouldn’t paint any of those. But that depends on your personal attitude towards these figures, of course.

All pictures so far copied in the Mithril Gallery “Uniques & Rarities” (missing the archers and pikemen)

Good grief! Did I really forget to provide the pics of the three archers and the pikemen? How could it happen? I’ve got them, of course. I’ll try to correct that until the next weekend. Sorry.

Hi Gildor, you can find the missing pics of the four pikemen and the three archers in my uploads here. So if you want to add them to complete the file in the gallery feel free to put them there.

So then, this confirms sad news for me, as I do not like to have any pieces missing from my collection. Were these early three, C3A, C5A, and C8A only given as gifts by Chris, or did some go on ebay by him or private sellers?

As far as I can recall those three figures were not only given away as gifts. In February 2006 I bought three figures of the Mw347 series from Chris (50 GBP). I think those were the ones you mentioned, Tom. Anyway I think there are no figures left to be sold. :(

Well, as I had some time to re-read this thread …considering & contemplating …
you should take some time to re-dust your Mw347, Master Erchamion … a picture would be very much welcomed here … I also thought of providing a pic of the complete army somewhere around here (in the thread of Gildor’s gallery) … but what is it about the last smile in your last entry?
Anyway, I’ll keep on and I also do hope you also will.

As for the pictures I ask help from a friend who has a good camera with macro :)
