Wow ! Again Master Elroi shows us how to highlight mithril miniature’s finer points.
Keep going !I also suggest you to provide such good work to Michael on Mithril site.
September 5, 2011 at 12:18 pm #20134Hi all again! Remember me?
IĀ“m back here, after some months of “zero activity” with my mithril miniatures (work, family, more work, and other minis, you know…)
But this summer I have worked a bit (thanks, holidays), and I managed to finished a decent number of them. And I`ll try this time to be more consistent in my participation here (promise!)
And now, some pics, hope you like them:
The seated Goblin king. I repainted this one.

A Mordor Uruk. One of my favorite orc. I tried to paint the armour in a different way, far away from my typical metallics. I think looks nice.
[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/593_m_150_a.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/593_m_150_a.jpg[/imgz]
A ghoul (hard to paintā¦ really)
[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/593_m_168_a.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/593_m_168_a.jpg[/imgz]
Merry and Pippin in the Chamber of Mazarbul

Stone Giant. Another of my favorite mithril miniature. Was a little difficult to paint this guy, because of its bigger scale
[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/593_m_307_a.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/593_m_307_a.jpg[/imgz]
Lugburz. Big and mean, as every orc should be.

And tomorrow I will post my first proyect of a mithril diorama and I will ask you for some help with it.
Regards to all!
September 5, 2011 at 12:34 pm #20137Hi Elroi,
I am really pleased to see you back here, especially with such tremedous painting work. š
Bravo !September 5, 2011 at 1:44 pm #20146Nice paint jobs! Wow!
September 5, 2011 at 8:44 pm #20166Welcome back dear friend…. it is great to see your magnificent painting work…. !!! Thanks for this pictures !!!!
September 8, 2011 at 10:53 am #20204Thanks for the words and the welcome!
Now IĀ“m starting to do more than simple paintings on my mithril minisā¦ that means scenes and dioramas!
This is my first one, the Gates of Moria: not a big scene, but I tried to make it as detailed as I could.
And my big problem now is: what miniatures should I use? I started with the terrain an tree and water, and almost forget the charactersā¦.
IĀ“d like to represent Gandalf talking with Frodo, but IĀ“m not sure about what miniatures should use.
Could you, wise members of this site, help me?
Here are some pics of the scene. Is almost finished, just have to make a better drawing of the Ithildin gate (and add the miniatures, of course)

Thanks!!
September 8, 2011 at 11:01 am #20205I suggest Gandalf from [mith]MV362[/mith] and for Frodo…. it could be one fo the [mith]M57[/mith]…..
Great painting worl like always Master Elroi !!!!
September 8, 2011 at 1:15 pm #20206First, let me write it looks Great so far ! And I have been thinking about Moria’s gate for 20 years !
To my point of view, best gandalf candidate is [mith]MS553[/mith] as if he was trying to open the gate.
I agree [mith]M57[/mith] is a very good candidate for a travelling hobbit.
Then there are Frodo miniatures: [mith]LR23[/mith], [mith]M123[/mith], [mith]M287[/mith]…only [mith]M327[/mith] is excludedSeptember 10, 2011 at 11:07 am #20230Terrific work Master Elroi! The pale green robes really work with the brown/red skin you use for orcs. And te sharp highlights on the Hobbits cloaks are a master touch. The Giant is technically quite good also, but too clean for my taste, as if he has just washed his furs for the photo. Also some body hair on his chest, armpits and forearms would suit him nicely in my opinion.
For the vignette, I sugest [mith]m52[/mith] for Gandalf. It seems you were collecting Mithril in the good old days, so you may have it already.
September 10, 2011 at 5:18 pm #20233I have a spare M52 if needed.
September 11, 2011 at 4:05 pm #20234First of all, thanks a lot for the kind words and the suggestions.
Of all the listed Gandalfs, I think that the one from MV362, that pointed Thingol, fits great with my idea (because I prefer to represent him at the moment when heĀ“s talking with Frodo, instead of trying to open the Gate)
And IĀ“m sure I have it, hidding somewhere in my roomAnd to represent Frodo, I agree with one of the M57 (I didnĀ“t realize that I could use a non-Frodo miniature to represent it )
Maese Arthadan, thanks for the words, and for the advices. Yes, the giant looks too clean. Maybe IĀ“ll add some dirt and mud later. And about the hair, agree again: would look more realistic with a hairy chest, and son on arms and legs; but to achieve that result, I must spend much time and work, and IĀ“m trying to paint the miniatures a bit more quickly (you know, there is a loooong list of miniatures-to-paint )
And Maese Milo, thanks for the offering (IĀ“ll keep in my mind, for futures proyects)
Last of all, another inhabitant of Fangorn, Skinbark:

September 11, 2011 at 5:53 pm #20236Our ‘Tree’ should like this one . Another mini-masterpiece.
David
September 12, 2011 at 12:19 pm #20239Yes, I do like him very much … huoommm … especially the expression on his face looking into an empty bowl …
September 13, 2011 at 10:58 am #20244Sounds and looks familiar….
October 17, 2011 at 12:20 pm #20876Hi friends! there is another update of my (slowly) growing collection of mithril.
First of all, celebrimbor (one of my favorite miniatures of all the range)
[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/593_m_225.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/593_m_225.jpg[/imgz]
Now, two unfortunate walking dead warriors (and a satisfactory experiment with the artificial water in the base)

[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/593_m_167.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/593_m_167.jpg[/imgz]
An finally, the Moria gate almost finished scene: Gandalf scolding Pippin at the gate.
[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/593_moria.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/593_moria.jpg[/imgz]
And bigger pic at:
http://s150.photobucket.com/albums/s83/Elroi_77/?action=view¤t=Moria-1.jpg
I finally used the M113 Frodo to represent Pippin and now I must find M113 Sam, to put him seated in the roots of the tree, in front of Pippin.
Do you know if itĀ“s difficult to find on Ebay? or if even somebody has an extra copy and wants to sell it…
Anyway, hope you like them!!
October 17, 2011 at 12:33 pm #20877“Anyway”, I like them!!!!!!!!!!! Great as usual ! Very nice. Beautiful…. what else….
October 17, 2011 at 1:38 pm #20879Hi Master Elroi,
Celebrimbor is magic, and you managed to paint a glittering ring !
Undead are frightening and…dead šFinaly, Moria gate, well, Gandalf has perfect colors, very inspirationnal indeed ! Thanks for showing us your skills.
I every one agrees, I will send you M113 Sam which is part of extras for MMP dioramas as we have many other minis around Barliman already.
October 17, 2011 at 5:15 pm #20885Fantastic work, great colour choices and simple, but effective compositions. I like the small touches such as the broken corner of the flagstone on Celebrimbor’s base.
Once, my eyesight was good enough to paint small details like glittering rings and eyes on figures this size
Keep ’em coming.
October 17, 2011 at 6:36 pm #20888I agree totally to the others. Fantastic work, Master Roi, absolutely.
And I am glad about the fact, that you are still posting hereOctober 19, 2011 at 9:53 am #20930Thanks a lot for your comments, I appreciate them a lot and encourage me to keep working hard
Master Thingol, I made this “artificial water tests” after watching some of your natural diorams
Master Milo, that would be great! Please, tell me how can I repay for this generosity
Master Daines, youĀ“re right. By now, iĀ“m doing simple compositions in my scenes. In a near future, IĀ“ll try with bigger and more elaborated diorams (your works and also Master TurambarĀ“s ones, are always inspiring)
Turambar wrote:And I am glad about the fact, that you are still posting hereNot so frequently as iĀ“d like, but I promise not to leave this little corner
Regards to all!
