Yes, Master Milo, I do like all of what you provided here very much. It’s interesting to meet people who also have been busy with painting Mithrils and diorama-making for such a long time.
So I think you have found the right place here after all these years. You will enjoy. :)

          Hello again,
Thanks to all of you for congratulations. I’m glad you like my work.

I resized above images to improve its display on screen. I updated previous posts with more explanation on how I did Moria dioramas. All is hand made with balsa, polystyrene, plaster and natural stuff.

          Thingol : I’m not 37 yet

twrich: You are absolutely right. I painted a lot when I was a student, with plenty of time (and no budget apart for getting some ale! ). Since I have 2 wonderful children, I work full time, I spend my time in improving housing conditions.I only could paint a douzen of miniatures for the past 10 years…

Theobald: Master Ent, it seems yes that this is the place to be. I think I met one of yours somehow in Fangorn. I found this photo in my album.

                [mith]M344[/mith] – Elven flower-maidens

These Two miniatures were extracted from an elvish diorama I did in 1999:
Originaly, there was a hill, some trees, a river, a wooden brigde, flowers everywhere, and many elves around Aragorn’s leave-taking.
Unfortunately, it got destroyed during a move so I took out every miniatures and put them back on its pedestal.

I may one day rebuild the all set…

[mith]MB279[/mith] – The Lord of the Nazgul

I painted this vignette in 1997.
Wings appeared to be a little too nice.
For wings extremities in the middle, I used toothpicks.
I asked my cat “Bilbo” to provide me some claws for top wings extremities.
Thanks to my pet, wings look much better !

Here, I feel this is my best painting I did so far. The Miniature is fantastic, everything went very well with painting.
I even managed to add a tear on Eowyn’s cheek using one brilliant varnish droplet.

                  That’s all folks !

                    This is absolutely great, Milo!
I think it is the second time (!) I see a painted nazgul-box! The other example was such horrible, better forget its existence!
So I am very glad indeed to see a real fine example of one of my absolutely favourite mithril miniature!

PS: ahh, and the Arthedain Captain picture has been modified!

This morning, with sun rising, I managed to take pictures of some Bilbo’s legend: Smaug.

[mith]MB345[/mith] – The Vengeance of Smaug

Maybe you can notice that its belly’s skin is covered with diamonds (except one unarmoured patch of bare skin on his breast…). This was done with nail varnish I found in my wife’s make-up.

I recently bought Mithril handbook and discovered that the presented painted dragon is almost the same as mine (especially wings). This is a pure coincidence.

This Morning, looking at some New Zealand pictures in a book, I found the idea:
