Yes, I like it also very much !
July 9, 2010 at 2:20 pm #10916Great work, I like the scenery very much (and the real sky).
July 9, 2010 at 3:15 pm #10921Excellent all round Milo and I especially like the way Goldberry is paddling in the water – a very good use of the design of this figure.
If I could make one small suggestion (a tip I picked up long ago) and that is to try and clump things like flowers, small rocks etc. in groups of 3, 5, 7 …… an odd number seems to work better than an even number as it takes away the symetry.
Thanks once again for sharing this.

David, I might add some flowers to change sprays to odd ones. Thanks for the advice.
September 15, 2010 at 1:00 pm #12004I started the eagle diorama this week-end with my kids (4 & 8 years old)!
We built a huge Carrock (35cm high) using plaster, and Pyrénées rocks on saturday.
As it was too difficult to sculpt for them, stairs were changed to a way up path.
We started the painting yesterday. Kids just loved being part of this project.:lol::lol:Tonight, we’ll add a final paint brush touch, Then some soil, grass, plants, and a little Beorn’s cave.
Then eagles, dwarves, hobbit, Gandalf choice, assembling and painting.
Then Anduin River and several trees.
Then pictures ! :cool::cool:
Hopefully done by upcoming month.:rolleyes:Of course, no eagle carying on its back being available (except [mith]M140[/mith]…), I will use them while landing.
I like Ted Nasmith’s illustration:

That Bilbo might fit ton the back of an eagle.
September 15, 2010 at 6:48 pm #12011That is true. I thought of it also.
But the thing is there is [mith]M140[/mith] with an eagle and Bilbo in funny position. I managed to find one so M140 will carry the hobbit.September 15, 2010 at 7:11 pm #12013…. upcoming month will be soon great announcement Master Milo….
September 24, 2010 at 11:43 am #12106Just a brief status of eagles diorama:
Title: “Carrock” Any other suggestion is welcomed.
Diorama:
Carrock is done. Beorn’s cave will be added soon.
Several Trees need a bigger trunk.
The Anduin River base is drying in my garage. Then, natural material will bring it to life.Miniatures:
Landing zone on Carrock is too small for 14 eagles, 13 dwarves, a hobbit and Gandalf.
I decided to use only 10 eagles including the ones with gandalf and Bilbo. Here is my painting list:
1 [mith]M140[/mith]: painting started.
2 [mith]M301[/mith]: order is sent to Macroom, waiting for the postman
2 [mith]M302[/mith]: 2 painting almost finished.
2 [mith]M303[/mith]: I will replace orcs by 2 dwarves. 1 eagle painting is started.
2 [mith]M304[/mith]: 2 painting almost finished.
1 [mith]MS553[/mith]: order is sent to Macroom, waiting for the postmanI am trying to select 8 travelling dwarves which would be nearby landed eagles or in eagles claws.
[mith]M111[/mith], [mith]M127[/mith], [mith]M155[/mith], [mith]M160[/mith], [mith]M163[/mith], [mith]M229[/mith], [mith]M306[/mith]

I think it is a bit difficult to make the base transparent . . . I will think about possibilities . . .I received G…SW……P transparent bases which are just what I needed (4 different lenghts available).
I will never make any advert for them so no link (even if it is the first time I found a diorama solution with this company…)
No pictures yet as eagles are still missing their dwarves.November 5, 2010 at 4:41 pm #12856Well,
As several requested to see my workbench, I have to say there is none. I paint in the kitchen, in my living room, in the garage or on the terrasse table.I took several pictures on what is going on near Toulouse.
