In the days to come, I shall provide a pic of a never before seen and never to be released figurine. (it was sculpted this year by C.T)
Some kind of Morlas if you like though I doubt there will be other castings of this one…

I’ll keep you informed. You’ ll have the pics in avant-premiere.

“some kind of Môrlass” you said, Master Gildor. Then you doubt that there will be other castings of that figure. – A nice riddle indeed.
So first there were only 3 squirrels provided by The Man to the one who suggested that Moria Gate. Right? Then information about the “Prince” was published. Right? After that interest rose among collectors also wanting to have a “Prince of the Squirrels”. That was the time when some Elf took up contact to The Man and convinced him to have some more castings of the “Prince” being made (or released). So that went well for all those who were interested in it.
Now I have to conclude that with the figure you mentioned there will be no more extra-castings being released later on. Let me tell you, that’s fine. As for the number you were indirectly referring to it means about 3 figures or less will exist. That’s even better. So you can be sure that your figure is very rare and is a gift, as Môrlass was, the Dwaw of Waw (I know about the incorrect spelling) and the Ms423A Galadriel once.
Master Gildor, you deserve something like this indeed.

well as we all recently discovered master Ent, Dwar of Waw and Galadriel MS423A had many more castings that we thought of.. It may be due to the fact there was a “commercial” project and an “order” passed by Mithril to the man, thus explaining a CERTAIN number of castings… even if these end up as gift, the original purpose was not a gift… So far the only “Gift-purpose” was Morlas and with all the demand, Chris sculpted others because it was quite an easy one…

this time though may prove a bit different though I really have no idea about it yet… because I myself does not even know what the figurine is about! it is a surprise… but the man said there was an exact number of casting of these (below 10…), and would never be casted again… which makes it… very rare indeed and I don’t think anybody will sell it?

I don’t want to spoil anybody, and I don’t know if it is a good idea to give so many details as we don’t even have the figurine picture yet… I’m waiting for the picture myself.

all I can say is that I’ll forward the picture of it when I have received it myself :)

I was not asking you to let know about any details which you cannot know, Master Gildor. I then just tried to point out that it’s you who deserves such a piece. Whatever it might be.

well thank you for your kind words :) actually, this piece is not dedicated to me, or a gift for me… it is for my son… and as such, I think that it would be up to him, when he is of age to understand such things, to choose what to do…

Well, Gildor, so Raphael will have a second gift, another piece not being dedicated to you. That’s fine. Please pass most of my regards from a tree to Wirilome :)

first let me tell you… Maybe Mithril does not have or does not know how to spread the gray primer anymore but the Man himself still knows! (unless he has some hidden stock of the old primer?) but this rarity is primed indeed… and it is primed smoothly! the best primer I have seen in many years at Mithril…

                              now the figurine….

I suppose it is up to me to “baptize” this figurine….
since we are on November 30th, tomorrow being Dec 1st 2009… and the release of “born of hope” movie…
I think this name could very well fit the meaning of this figurine

thus let me present you… “Born of Hope”

I’ll keep the number of castings secret for the time being as I really don’t have any idea on how I’ll proceed with them.
I can just tell you there are less than 10 castings … and no more will be casted…

Yes, I do believe that the figure was sculpted this year … the dress, the hair … I believe to recognize some of that … anyway, they’re wonderful, the child and the Lady …

this was sculpted after or just before your MX UP master Ent :) and the only thing we can see on the base is C.Tubb ’09.
Considering it is an “elaborate” figurine, (with quite some details for the baby…) I easily understand why there won’t be other castings of this one… I even think the mould may be out of service by now :/
This is not like Morlas which was easy to reproduce if need be

On the other hand, it is a precious gift, but would it have any value in a collector’s glasscase except for myself or maybe Estel too ? :) I don’t know…

That’s truly special! Now that’s what I love about Mr. Tubb sculpting: his sensibility to create master piece as this one. Congratulations for such a gift (both “miniatures” ;) ), Master Gildor!

Well, Gildor, in case you accept advice from an old Ent, I just can tell you to keep the figure as it is and what it was meant for. The fact that it will never been recasted that way means much. But, I think this is not what the miniature is about. It might imaginary rise the price of it. But on the other hand we both do know that none of those figures will see the light on Ebay. And that exactly is the way it should be. I also was concerned lately that a personal gift was offered there. With that Lady and the child you received as a personal gift I’m sure something like that will not happen (Iwish you could see me sitting here smiling).
As for the value of the gift you referred to, I think that also shouldn’t be measured in € or GBP or whatever currency you choose. A special gift cannot be counted that way. Yes, I can imagine you having that figure in a collector’s glasscase, as you called it, at some place you pass often almost every day – maybe the living-room – then sometimes stopping and having a look at the figure. Then, I can tell, thoughts will rise in your mind again. Maybe, then you’ll even have a smile on your face. I think that’s what all this is about.
There’s some experience which led me to explain this to you. I do have some glass-cabinets in my living-room. And sometimes I stop walking by just to have a look at some of the figures. The Númenorian Army, Master Caster’s Falconer, gifts from Chris Tubb and others too. And that is not the moment of thinking about prices. It’s just the fact that they can put a smile on your face.
Then leaving, smiling you will know that no money can buy that.
That’s all I know of these complicated inner-matters.
