Well as said in the pony I got news.
Here they are :
Chris Tubb wrote:The grey company seems like an excellent idea. It is not only an important range that we have never covered before but it also gives the opportunity to reprise some important characters in a new way.can you tell me whether these figures were envisaged as all being mounted or dismounted, or a mixture of both.
I think I would prefer the last option personally but would like to hear the opinions of the collectors. Thanks very much for your efforts in this regard. I will talk to Lars about the matter and give it my whole-hearted support as the next M release after Helm’s deep 3 or possibly between 2 and 3 to provide a change of theme.I answered him that the mixture of both was the best, as he thinks himself.
Now about the Balrog :
Chris Tubb wrote:I have recently been working on the Balrog which won the Ms vote a couple of months ago and it has proved quite difficult. I started off making the crouching and brooding Balrog which was suggested by the winner, and then decided to experiment with some other poses. I made a rough of a Balrog which was lying down, as though he had been hurled to earth by the Valar after the great battle and lain unconscious ever since. I put cracks and fissures in the ground as if he had shattered the very rocks by his impact. I worked up both figures but eventually decided to opt for the original crouching figure, with wings folded around him.
The reason I mention all this to you is that I was wondering whether you would like me to send you a pic of the lying Balrog after the release of the Ms figure, to see whether collectors would be interested in this figure also as a future release. If there is sufficient interest we could release it as a regular M figure. Let me know.I answered him than I was more than interested in seeing such a pic… and no matter the pic I would be interested in seeing the “alternate” Balrog released in any possible way! (regular, MS, prototype etc)
and at last :
Chris Tubb wrote:The Christmas gift I chose to make this year is called the Lord of Khand ( I was reminded by the recent Variag archer that won a recent Ms poll that we really need more figures in this group). He is a sort of great khan of the Variags though of course I would not use that title.and the little PS that shocked me :
Chris Tubb wrote:P.S. I did not know about the rarity of Halbarad. Maybe that’s why the factory never sent me one. I have never actually seen a casting of it!This says a lot about Lars and Chris communication!!!!

November 9, 2010 at 2:06 am #12921It is good to see that Chris does believe that Helms Deep 3 will be released, and that the alternate balrog could be released as an “M” by itself.
What do we know about Helms Deep 3 ?November 9, 2010 at 7:56 am #12923….lot’s of interesting information’s….. Lot’s. I like all of them. And about Balrog…both figures could be appropriate…. finally in stories were more than one Balrog….
And about Lord of Khand….. smile is on my face…. like these…. 😆🙂
November 9, 2010 at 9:02 am #12925On my face, too.
I really agree to The Man: we surely need more figures of that group !!! Absolutely!
This Lord of Khand could be, no: will be the final masterpiece inside my current “Easterlings” diorama.
Never had dreamt of such a fact. Ho Ho !
U N B E L I E V A B L E !November 9, 2010 at 9:39 am #12928Fantastic news. And there will be two more Balrogs for my dioramas.
I need a drink now.November 9, 2010 at 5:35 pm #12976Thank you, Gildor, providing these news, and thank you for all the effort you took in many ways.
As for me I’m really happy to hear that the good-old tradition of having Christmas figures doesn’t seem to be forgotten – at least not by The Man. I do very much like the choice for this year’s figure as much as I liked the choice for last year’s figure.
This of course does not mean that I’m less happy about the other projects The Man seems to be thinking about at the moment.
All that gives hope to me and I’m sitting here smiling from deep inside.November 9, 2010 at 8:06 pm #12978Thank you for the updates Gildor, interesting to hear CT’s views and ideas.
Doesn’t this really say something about Mithril – when Chris is ‘busting a gut’ to get feedback, opinions and ideas from us, the company do nothing (up front at least!).
Great to see such enthusiasm from Chris – scandalous to hear he doesn’t have a copy of one of the finest GF figures to date, if I had a spare I would send him one.
I would love to see the Grey Company produced, my thoughts would be a mix – I did have an idea long before the possibility of them becoming a reality, of either mustered at Rivendell (receiving Arwen’s banner – I had in mind to utilise the two M343 (Aragorn as Halbarad) and LR40 Arwen with banner figures) before journeying to join Aragorn, or at the Paths of the Dead.
Either way, a mix of both would suit me, the difficulty being the poses so that they can be used as a group, or for different purposes (I guess action poses would suit the gamers out there more).
November 9, 2010 at 8:15 pm #12979…. I like your idea Master David… this is one of the biggest scenes in book….. receiving the king’s banner. Maybe this figure will be part of the Grey company !
November 9, 2010 at 9:58 pm #12980I would like to point out that Gildor’s shock about Chris’ “little PS” did not surprise me at all. It just proved what I know for quite some years.
He did (and does) not receive any of the final castings of his (sic!) figures from that company.
So far I never did tell about this – Gildor knows why. It always was because I did not want to “broadcast in public” (Chris’ words) what he reveiled to me and as he asked me not to do so. So I always kept away from doing that. I was in some contact with Chris, especially about the last two MX-releases, as you all might guess. – (The last one of that was especially hard to handle with Mr Edman.)Caused by the latest discussions I feel free to give away examples of what I had to learn within the last years – at least things that have to do with this matter.
After we (Chris and me) were lucky having been able to release the MX-Imrahil, as a kind of introduction to the then coming M-Swan-Knights-release I contacted Chris about the poor quality of the priming of the M-release. He was more than surprised and angry. Fact was he did not receive any copy of the released figures from the company. HE SIMPLY DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM. (And he couldn’t be aware of it, not at all. When I sent him one of the MX-Imrahils(extra-castings) he he thanked me for that and confirmed that he is not used to receive copies of the figures as they are sold.
Sorry, but here I have to ask why he didn’t ask the company to send him those. Was he too trustworthy about the production?
Anyway, then he took it all in his hands not to disappoint us customers any more and contacted LE about the primer problem. I can imagine that it was a rather hazardous situation as LE was about to use up (sic) all that “slicky stuff” for the further realeases that was still on store. – Then it was Chris who took his time to find out about a better spray for the figures, as he did not want to have his sculptings spoiled. Therefore Mr LE had to dump the rest of his “hoard” (or mix it elsewhere – I don’t know).
A bit later it was the time when I submitted the MX-UP. Then (after all this primer-discussion in public) I had a clear agreement with Chris. That MX will never be released with such a primer, better let it be unsprayed ( I think in the end it was better for the MX). By the way with the production of that MX Chris spent a weekend to take a flight to the company in Ireland to watch the mould-making to be sure that everything and every part would be moulded at its best.As for another matter that also has been discussed somewhere around here:
I can confirm that so far I did not receive any broken mould of Imrahil or the UP, as it once was part of the agreement for MX-Figures.Sorry, friends … with this I just want to support Gildor’s disappointment about the way Mr Edman treats Mithril, Chris and us.
By giving away some details … I do hope Chris doesn’t feel angry about it. It just fits to what Gildor already stated.
I tried to contact Mr Edman directly some days ago and await answers.Well, that’s all I can do at the moment … so let’s keep fingers crossed about the future of Mithril and that some anger and disappointment will be solved in the very near future …. rrrhhhhooommmm ….
November 9, 2010 at 10:43 pm #12982So the company did somethong as a “breach of contract”. Very sad that is.
I need a drink after reading all this. And thank you Master Theobald to tell this.November 9, 2010 at 11:51 pm #12983Puhh, this behaviour of LE is really awful! Inacceptable.
Another positive thing: Christmas presents . . .
Maybe the Lord of Khand could have a look like this:[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/32_bild_42.png]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/32_bild_42.png[/imgz]
November 10, 2010 at 6:57 am #12984Sadly… this information’s are total unprofessional and unethical disaster for mithril as a part of PA. It looks that mithril as a brand is totally insignificant fact in whole PA story. And respect for the CT from the LE…. what the hell is this…. !?!?!? Besides I hope all those gaps will be fulfilled and we would have more figures in future….
And about Lord of Khand….. Good example Master Archer….
November 10, 2010 at 12:04 pm #12986Master Archer, this pic is a great inspiration….
It looks like a combination of 3 minis to me!
I like very much!November 10, 2010 at 12:36 pm #12989Three minis . . . Which ones ???
Made my mind up for a conversion for 15 months, when I first saw the pic.(the head could be Master Bard . . . )
November 10, 2010 at 1:02 pm #12992M241 as the base, then I thought 235 the head of the Bard, and m116B arm with helmet. + any suitable arm for the right side, depending on what the finished man is supposed to do with this one…
I had a closer look and think Broddas head looks better then the one of the bard.November 10, 2010 at 1:04 pm #12993I guess that I will repeat my question from above; What do we know about Helms Deep 3 ?
Another question is; What is in the Wilderlands set that we voted on recently?November 10, 2010 at 1:07 pm #12995I know nothing… sorry Master shadyt!
November 10, 2010 at 1:49 pm #12997so as it is the “news from Chris” topic….
I got some news from the phone call between Lars and Chris yesterday…
it’s still a shock to see mister Edman keeps saying the same thing again and again and has not taken ANY of our ideas or suggestions into consideration, as if he had not read them at all…
I will post later … (i’m at work at the moment)
November 10, 2010 at 1:54 pm #12998. . . off topic, we know, we know . . . 😎
Have a look after this chain-suite. For cover for later bad news . . . -
