October 21, 2019 at 7:53 pm #38047How many years ago…. ?
October 21, 2019 at 8:15 pm #38048About 30 years
Of course the address does not exist any more like the association Myth’image.
It was at the beginning of Mithril figurines.October 21, 2019 at 8:19 pm #3805030 years ago…. nice memories….
October 22, 2019 at 4:48 pm #38055well Myth’images was well known around here, created by Meneldil (Jacques) only one year and a half or so after Mithril was created itself (in late 1987)
I myself was introduced to Mithril in 1994 and I was aware of the Mithril maniacs and the association Myth’images. Actually I think it is on this site I learned about the “Christmas 1989 Isildur Vignette” though nobody except Juegos Sin Fronteras in Spain ever mentionned this chimera… even Chris himself does not know or remember about it… one day I hope someone will sort out this mystery…well it was quite some time ago indeed…
October 22, 2019 at 7:35 pm #38061Since you’re giving me the opportunity here, Gildor, I’m going to clarify to the members of the community, the birth of Mithril Maniac. It is undeniable that Jacques played a preponderant role in his creation but this idea is not the work of a single person. It thus germinated in a collective way after the meeting between Jacques and myself, then a few months later, with that of another future member of the association, Hervé. All three of us lived in the same city, and we met every week in a cafe, a veritable craziest think tank, where poets, musicians, visual artists, role-play and future players met and intermingled. geeks with the appearance of the laptop. A true artistic melting pot. We were always very happy to meet and we would have for nothing in the world, missed a single appointment. We brought with us our latest achievements, painted Mithril figurines of course. The figurines passed from hand to hand and we waited a little feverishly the comments of each other. But at the same time, aware of being lucky enough to be at least three on Nantes to share this passion for Mithril figurines, we felt alone and had a growing desire to meet other “fans”. We had, so quickly, the idea of creating a fanzine called “Mithril Maniac” that would link our small community in Nantes and other French enthusiasts. At least, we hoped.
Mithril Maniac would deal with the latest Mithril novelties, incongruities encountered on our figurines, future projects of the brand Prince-August but also the writings of Professor JRR Tolkien not to mention the music we listened to during these moments of relaxation that were the sessions of painting. It would be quarterly. We made about fifteen. What a story ! Then, our passion was gradually extinguished, we were dispersed and then met again, but the passion of our youth had left us and the Mithril were really no longer our main concerns.
If tonight I write these words, listening to Loreena McKennitt (as in the good old days) is that I really want to pay a tribute through the Trophy Mithril Maniac, my brother’s weapon disappeared too quickly and too early last spring. It’s only for that reason that I pulled it out of the memory drawer.
Gentlemen, everyone, I wish you a nice evening.October 22, 2019 at 7:52 pm #38063“Actually I think it is on this site I learned about the “Christmas 1989 Isildur Vignette” though nobody except Juegos Sin Fronteras in Spain ever mentionned this chimera… even Chris himself does not know or remember about it… one day I hope someone will sort out this mystery…”
Already at the time there was false news ! 😆

Gentlemen, everyone, I wish you a nice evening.Thank you for sharing a little bit more of your background with us.
I also listen to Loreena from time to time, she has some magical songs. I specially like the album that has a pomegranate on the front (can’t recall it’s name at the moment). On the other hand, I am sorry for your loss. Mithril has also a special place in my heart, since my first ever miniatures were those in [mith]mb236[/mith] given to me as a birthday present when I was a teenager. (She always encouraged me to do the things I liked.)
October 28, 2019 at 6:59 am #38071wow! 30 years. Awesome!
Maese Maenas, MB236 was also my first mithril buy.
October 28, 2019 at 1:25 pm #38072Really sad I did not know your association @ that time. I felt very often alone in my little city (Pau).
BTW, it’s been 31 years for me.
I bought [mith]M6[/mith], [mith]M14[/mith], [mith]M15[/mith], [mith]M18[/mith] & [mith]M24 [/mith] in Paris, for around 100F just when the came out on the marketplace.
Shop is still called l’Oeuf Cube but they do not sell anymore mithrils.October 28, 2019 at 8:39 pm #38073Here is a board that we had done at the time of the release of the series “The room of Mazarbul”.

English version
For the last few weeks, I’ve been sorting out my junk (I’m going to make friends ) and I noticed that the protective foam of the old Mithril figurines was falling apart to become dust, as we can see on the photo below. Have you also encountered this problem ?

November 9, 2019 at 11:21 am #38112Some foam do tend to disapear some do not. It seems it depends on external climate conditions (T°, Humidity, light exposure and of courses years).
I have kept many spare foams if you need any.
BTW, I would love to get your boards also. -
