September 18, 2011 at 6:50 pm #20279I certainly hope that the new proprietor resurrects the Warbands sets. That would be vey useful.
September 18, 2011 at 8:01 pm #20281This seller has many nice and bad characters to served on the auction menu…. but this is very interesting…. but for some of my future ideas…. Elendil the tall on horse…..
September 18, 2011 at 8:09 pm #20283well, selling a conversion…. is typically something I would not risk if I were him…
as conversions are indeed not genuine stuff, selling a conversion would mean the creator of this conversion is the owner and has rights to sell it as such… which is not the case…. this can be seen as a sort of piracy even if it is clearly said it is a conersion, a conversion is not authorized to be sold without the agreement of the copyright owner…don’t want to dig up an old debate but that’s the core of our problem elsewhere , remember
September 18, 2011 at 8:53 pm #20284I’m totally agree with you Gildor… and I have no intention to but this figure… I just commented that it is a good idea… I’m sure I can do better …
September 18, 2011 at 9:12 pm #20286I’m not sure I understand the problem. The Man himself has said he applauds conversions, and what the buyer is paying for is actually the converter’s own hours of work. It’s no more depriving the copyright owner of income than selling unconverted figures second-hand deprives the manufacturer of income. The converter is simply selling a figure (his own property by purchase) that he has altered to suit his personal tastes (his own labour). It’s no different from re-painting a model railway train in a different livery and selling it on eBay. If this guy was selling a casting from the conversion, that would be an entirely different matter, but this is just a one-off.
September 18, 2011 at 11:20 pm #20287the copyright of all conversions … remains the property of the original sculptor as it seems, Chris remains owner of the art… as teh final creation is an unregistered conversion done without legal authorization of the author
the man applauds at conversions in an artistic ways… but if conversions were to be sold… this is different as Chris is still legally the “artistic” copyright owner even of the conversion… even if he did not convert anything at all… but that could bring a long debateSeptember 19, 2011 at 7:14 am #20288Copyright is a can of worms at the best of times, but my own belief is that the guy has every right to sell his conversion so long as it isn’t part of a commercial manufacturing operation, which this clearly isn’t. Nuff said.

Nuff said.I agree with our bar tender, not only because I’m hungry & thisrty ! 😆
I see no reason why someone should not be authorised to sell what he possesses….as long as it is not a copy.
September 19, 2011 at 4:25 pm #20297in perfect condition, first mithril dwarf [mith]M19[/mith]:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mithril-Miniatures-Lord-Rings-late-80s-OOP-Dwarvish-warrior-M19-/170698449638?pt=UK_Toys_Wargames_RL&hash=item27be6ba2e6September 19, 2011 at 6:27 pm #20298I go with Barli on this (conversion) sale. As long as it is stated that it is a conversion of an original Mithril figure/s and is not being sold as an original Mithril release then the seller is within his rights to sell as such and anyone buying should not feel guilty about it (imho).
Assuming it is a one off of course.
Item number: 400244074135 may be of interest – 6 early Rohirrim (parts missing I think).
September 19, 2011 at 7:03 pm #20299I agree provided the conversion is not sold … as a clearly identified tolkien character I suppose this is the problem here

September 19, 2011 at 7:18 pm #20301I wonder which one is an original MS299 packaging is as mine is in a blue box.
September 19, 2011 at 7:23 pm #20302strange, I only got this red box type for the MA1… all other “original fellowship” MS came with a regular BIG size red blister pack
I suppose the packaging may vary depending on the distributors, and the original fellowship, for MS, was managed by Prince August France directly, not from PA Ireland…
