Morlas Prince of SquirrelsI’ll love to have one of this … This little squirrell is sooo cute!
December 18, 2012 at 12:57 pm #26438Yes Master Gildor, I’m getting rid of most of my Mithrils and other minis still sitting in drawers.
Ok, so far we got Master Mornedhel and Master imisel who are interested in the squirrel.
Mistress sevlag and Master Ori a maybe?I’ll wait 2 more days, then I’ll ask a question and the one with the right answer who expressed interest in the squirrel will get it.
The answer to the question can be found here on MMP!December 18, 2012 at 1:36 pm #26442it’s fine for me . But it’s a shame you have to get rid of your minis, Master Caster.
December 18, 2012 at 1:51 pm #26445I don’t have to!
December 18, 2012 at 3:42 pm #26452Oh yes, of course Master Caster, If you have another little prince of the forest in your reserve, of course I will be very happy to receive a beautiful Christmas gift 😀
It ‘s a pity that you’re forced to separate you from your minis , and at the same time it ‘s really nice that you think of us
Thank you very much in advanceDecember 18, 2012 at 3:55 pm #26454Many thanks Master Caster for the proposition!
I’m in too!December 18, 2012 at 8:50 pm #26461hsf62 wrote:Ori, are you interested aswell?Sure I am. Would be great.
December 19, 2012 at 3:17 am #26466Could you please empty your mailbox, Master Caster. I need to ask you something.
December 19, 2012 at 4:10 pm #26471Try it there: hsf62@iprimus.com.au
A lot easier!December 19, 2012 at 4:50 pm #26472I just had a look at the latest auctions and think it’s a shame to see for what low costs so many wonderful Mithrils went away … it simply saddens me.
December 20, 2012 at 9:44 am #26488Less and less collectors Master Tree, or simply disinterest . Mithril are not easy to paint and you never see one represented in a painting contest and so the market share is really a niche reserved for some passionate.
December 20, 2012 at 9:53 am #26490I’m sure it has more to do with the company’s very low advertising profile, as we’ve all said many times before. There are lots of people interested in Tolkien, but very few of them have heard of Mithril figures.
December 20, 2012 at 10:45 am #26491As well, during the 90’s every RPG shops and even modelism shops offers Mithril in Belgium. Today the shops I used to visit are not selling them anymore for years (
December 20, 2012 at 11:22 am #26492it all comes a marketing strategy from Lars you know, well we’ve discussed it many times already…
this non-marketing strategy comes from the fact Lars cannot invest money in big advertising and also promotions, as facing the giant that GW has become is totally useless and would jeopardize mithril.
that’s why he has clearly decided to break and discontinue EVERY retail activity for Mithril and focus on online sales exclusively. and as such, it has to begin with “veteran and regular” buyers and programs such as the gold fellowship… to extend progressively to “general and public” ONLINE releases, but retailer marketing won’t show up for quite some years still…and that won’t change as it is their decision to NOT do anything… not just laxism…December 20, 2012 at 12:29 pm #26493The Question:
Who was the dude who gave me the name Master Caster?
Well, you will not be able to find him in the east! 😆The one who first posts the right name will get the little gritter!
Have fun searching here on MMP!December 20, 2012 at 12:35 pm #26495It was Master Kennako, wasn’t it?
December 20, 2012 at 12:36 pm #26496I didn’t know you where interested in this gritter aswell Master Barkeep.

Mithril miniatures are easier to paint than lots of other brand ones: this is, you can paint them (with a very good final result) in a short time comparing with the more complex modern miniatures. And is not necessary to be an expert painter to achieve good results. The problems are others:
IMHO, the reason is that Mithrils are just simpler or whith less details than modern miniatures (but the elegance of the style, the realism of the poses, the great variety of the range and of course, the fidelity to the original Tolkien´s ideas are still strong points supporting them).
And sadly, lot of professional (or high level amateur) painters may not appreciate this advantages, owing to the mentioned simplicity of the miniatures. And if good painters do not give support, it´s very difficult that the rest of amateurs pay attention to the brand.
The key is to show that is possible to make very good pieces with mithrils.
Just for example, two weeks ago I showed my Prancing Poney diorama in a local painting contest (not a very big one, but with 15 years of history). And it won the gold in his category and the best Fantasy entry of the contest, surprising (and pleasing) the judges a lot.
That is the way: maybe a single mithril miniature will not beat other ones, but a more complex scene (Moria, Helm, Erebor, Fangorn, Rivendel, etc..) will have lot of advantages. And the main advantage I see, is that you cannot recreate the 90% of the Tolkien universe with non-mithril miniatures. And there are lot of Tolkien fans among the miniaturists
Just my optimistic point of view
