Well, Master Ent… I think that this happens for 3 facts:
– No promo from Prince August ( I know various collectors and wargame players here in Spain that don’t know Mithril still exist)
– Most of collectors like us have almost all references, so demand is minor.
– Economical crises – It’s very hard to buy miniatures if you have to fullfill your basic needs.Of course, new collectors have it easier – Maybe this could help to get new blood in Mithril fans.
March 16, 2015 at 9:03 am #32356Selling Prices in 2014 I have computed are not so bad compared to 2010 prices from Master Zoetrop great catalog.
In 2014, 131 prices are lower, 319 prices are higher, global estimated is around 600€ higher (+4%, 2014 new releases excluded).I know some of truly collectors are not anymore, which is the most dramatic maybe. But we observe new collecotrs also. So I think the situation is not so bad.
March 16, 2015 at 9:09 am #32357I would add another factor to those 3.
New brands, materials, techniques and technical improvements, and also new sculptors that make mithril completely outdated in price, fashion and even quality. <--This hurts me to say, but I think it's a fact. But the most important of them all, I think it’s the promo, If everyone with a certain age, thinks that mithril is gone away through the ages, and the youngest don’t even know the brand, it’s market will became narrower and narrower with the pass of time, just like it is happening now (I think).March 16, 2015 at 9:20 am #32358Hear hear, Master Maenas. I have been thinking much the same thing for quite a while.
March 16, 2015 at 9:28 am #32359Yes you are alight but Keep in mind Mithril is “only” a hobby for Lars.
Just compute if PA sold all 150 MS release each month: 21*150 value a rough 2700 euro without VAT
now remove Chris salary (sculptor are paid an average 800 euro fro a figure 54mm), production cost, operational cost …Do your really think its a good business plan?
March 16, 2015 at 9:15 pm #32360I must admit to having been inspired by Master Archer’s link to figures from Red Box Games. Haven’t seen the figures in the ‘flesh’, but they looked nice so I have just ordered some.
They seem to have nice character to them – not all of the figures are to my taste, but I have ordered 7 human figures for less than 3 GF figures. If they are as good as they look I will undoubtedly order more.
My Bree project has re-inspired my use of MM’s – they will still hold a special place for me, but as posts points out there are a many factors against MM.
March 17, 2015 at 11:04 am #32361. . . the right decision, David! 😎
And I will assure that you will be NOT disappointed at all!March 17, 2015 at 8:11 pm #32362Turambar wrote:. . . the right decision, David! 😎
And I will assure that you will be NOT disappointed at all!, I’m already ‘ twitching’ with anticipation .
March 17, 2015 at 10:15 pm #32363Master Ddaines, I saw some of those non-Mithril figures and I also like some of them, just as Master Archer, who first told me about them. – I especially like the Elven-archer in a wonderful diorama he gave me two years ago. So I think you will not be too much disappointed.
Alas, this is off-topic here. Don’t we have the time to discuss these matters in the Pony?March 18, 2015 at 8:58 am #323647 hours remaining, auction for MX-UP is 164€.
March 18, 2015 at 9:04 am #32366Wish I had the money, but I couldn’t even afford its present price, let alone its probable end price.
March 18, 2015 at 6:05 pm #32369After a nice fight (27 bids), [mith]MX535[/mith] was sold for 245,69 EUR
😎
March 18, 2015 at 7:55 pm #32370interesting … well there seems to still be some enthusiasm after all
March 18, 2015 at 10:49 pm #32371Thank you Milo for always watching auctions such as this one and then keeping record about such things.
245 € in the end, well that’s more than I have guessed as the seller started with an extremely low price for the auction. On the other hand I would like to stress that it’s an extremely good vignette.March 31, 2015 at 9:13 am #32422Hello all!
Have found on ebay a nice opportunity for those of you wanting duplicates or miniatures for dioramas it is a lot of 40+ mithril miniatures for 18GBP (minis are used, out of blister and some have missing parts) there is one day and 11 hours left for the end of the bidding process and there are 13 bids placed so far.March 31, 2015 at 9:36 am #32423I can only imagine that this seller has no idea of the potential value of what he’s offering for sale.
May 7, 2015 at 7:16 pm #32607another [mith]M16[/mith]. It seems sword is original, even I cannot be sure with provided pics & such hugly gluing.

May 7, 2015 at 9:47 pm #32608Well, you could be right about the sword, Milo, I just checked. But as you, I cannot be sure because of the quality of the pictures provided.
As for another matter that “Lady” obviously is badly smeared with paint and is in a very bad condition. From the pics you cannot tell how far the surface of the figure might have been damaged because of that worn condition. So I don’t understand how the seller dares to put the figure for 250 € … that’s ridiculous, I think.May 8, 2015 at 6:58 am #32609He’s obviously just greedy.
May 15, 2015 at 12:50 pm #32632Hi guys
what do you think of this ebay figure ?
Doesn’t look like an original Mithril figure to me…
The seller has some more mithril and PA figures for sale, but I don’t know what to think about it…
