April 12, 2016 at 3:21 pm #34395So if you’re a completist collector, you’re doomed.

that’s where completist collectors are put to rest, to fuel its eternal fire … which explains the inscription in the one ring.April 13, 2016 at 8:04 am #34413So, not doomed, but Mount Doomed.
April 13, 2016 at 11:23 am #34414alas, I think I may belong to this “doomed” category of completist collectors…. but with time patience sometimes it pays… but usually it mostly “costs” than pays…
April 13, 2016 at 1:29 pm #34415Oh yes, I agree.

April 13, 2016 at 3:28 pm #34417The completist collector pays the cost. First with his/her hard earned money only to end up in Mount Doomed! 😆
August 24, 2016 at 1:21 pm #34856I actually read through a majority of this thread!! I missed out on so much through the years with some great (and not so great) deals popping up. It was interesting to see how the Mithril figures would rise and fall over those years with the years 2008-2009 & 2013 seemingly to be low points as far as prices go. I enjoyed reading Milo’s informative posts and treasure (attic!) finds as he went about completing his collection. Too bad the old ebay links don’t work anymore as I would have loved to see some of the actual items not just you guys discussion them. I have much to learn as I begin my own quest to fill my collection! 😮 All the help will be GREATLY appreciated.
I hope this thread doesn’t become abandoned as there are still those like myself that will benefit from all these eyes on the lookout for deals and rare finds (though Yves is helping me out with some of those!!).
August 24, 2016 at 3:45 pm #34857Anyone know which figures (if Mithril?) these are:

August 24, 2016 at 4:33 pm #34859These Rohirim a from “The Horse-lords” series.
I see [mith]M259[/mith], [mith]M261[/mith], [mith]M263[/mith], [mith]M266[/mith], [mith]M268[/mith]August 24, 2016 at 5:04 pm #34861those are indeed mithril , don’t hesitate to browse through the mithril database using the advanced engine (http://mithril.faerylands.eu/index.php?action=dbase&methodic=adv) mindx2. You’ll have pictures and information for all Mithril figures ever made (even prototypes)

You’ll have pictures and information for all Mithril figures ever made (even prototypes)I have looked but I didn’t really know where to start looking as the seller had no numbers listed. This is how one feels when they first start out collecting Mithrils I’m sure!
August 24, 2016 at 8:51 pm #34866A pictorial listing that’s useful if you don’t have any idea what it is you’re looking at (because of a lack of identifying numbers) is:
http://www.mithril59.com/m.htm
I have no idea who compiled it – do any of you fellows know? Regardless of its origin, I’ve found it very helpful a number of times in the past.
August 24, 2016 at 9:28 pm #34867Huomm … who compiled the list? I’m not sure, but wasn’t it Henk?
August 24, 2016 at 10:44 pm #34869Mithril59 was the site of Arnaud “sgod” Godet, the guy who made all the pics of mithril parts for old mithril refs
Though the site is still online it has not been updated in more than ten years and I have received no news of Arnaud in years. He was one of the very serious mithril collectors back in time. Some of you surely know him.
August 26, 2016 at 12:02 am #34897Here is a new batch of loose early M-series figures now up on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/sch/cynwyllyn/m.html?item=201653881780&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
The ones I am interested in are M19, 35A&B, 55, 56, 57, 75, 84, 96, 107, 110, 112, 118B, 148, 194. What do you all think are reasonable prices for these since they are loose? I looked them up in the database and they appear complete except 118B but I expect I can find the Bill Ferny to go with him elsewhere.
August 26, 2016 at 7:52 am #34899well the database provides average price compiled from all ebay sales in the recent years. So the price you see on the reference sheets on teh database could be a good indication
For memory , the prices mentionned consider the figurine to be MIB (mint in blister) above M100 and in good condition but without bliste if below M100
