well in order to win on ebay, no mystery… place your bid… at quite a high price (well whatever you are willing to pay) less than 20s before the end of the auction and pray there is nobody else interested in it…
Some around here may remember the most “(in)famous” auction in which i took part years ago about the Christmas 1988 Aragorn… in less than 3 minutes, the price rose up to 1600€ (more than £1000) from less than 100€ one hour before… I was outbid by someone in the USA I think (glorfindel) who really wanted it and raised the price even higher… I’m sure none of us wanted the price to reach that high, but the two of us definitly wanted this figurine….
In the end, he won… I lost…(and i’m happy to have lost , thinking about it now!!) this contributed to fix the “price” for this never-seen-before figurine to 1600€… by lack of any other indicator…
Years later, I managed to get my hands on this figurine… not at all for this price, and not by a public sale… but this auction will remain in mithril sales history… no other figurine has ever beaten this price… yet… Though I know of others which can be approximatly estimated 400€ each (the three 54mm white prototypes)
