But all of you should remember the furious reaction by The Man throwing away so many Ms423A Galadriels lately … this was because he knew about the “piracy” of that figure … and I could understand … such an offer on Ebay, was it thrice?, was what I feel as a deep disappointment and “a practice both unfair to Mithril collectors who have payed a great deal of money to complete their collection and who would be buying fakes and also to me.” … the bird said.
July 4, 2010 at 6:31 pm #10725A shame when a good, honest seller and good guy like CT gets shafted like that . A loss to all the serious collectors out there.
No good deed goes unpunished as the saying goes, Chris has tried to look after his market with a fair way of selling straight from his own collection, but his stance is understandable.
July 4, 2010 at 6:46 pm #10726I am sure there are people among us who indeed are very very serious about piracy and would not resell any of their very precious gifts or collection pieces…
when it comes to me, I assured the Man my collection would be my heritage to my son… in the past he has been very generous with me and he still is… I would never want to loose this trust and friendship by selling any precious things he has given me…
But well, he has also been kind with other serious collectors in the past… who finally sold their “gifts”… we can’t know what will happen in someone’s life but a gift should remain a gift, not a merchandise…
July 4, 2010 at 6:59 pm #10729For the past 22 years, I even keep opened boxes.
My goal as you may know is to represent (as good as I can) J.R.R.T. world using Mithrils exclusively.
So, to me, I am only looking for original unpainted & undercoated minis.
Some times, I transgress these rules to obtain one mini I need: I buy an original painted one.
Still, I would never go against Mithril minaitures and Chris’ interests.
In any case, if I see one day a suspiscious miniature, I will provide it to Chris.July 4, 2010 at 10:45 pm #10748This is something that does concern me for the mid to long-term future. Can I really expect my son to have the same passion and interest in collecting mithrils? He’s only 6! He will have his own passions to discover! Eventually, I will pass or will no longer be able to enjoy such a collection as this. How does it get dispersed?
I have a good many copies for gaming purposes that, if painted, could easily pass a genuine mithrils. I long ago decided i could never sell them outright, as some unscrupulous individual could pass them on as genuine. I think on some way to “mark” them as copies. Cut off the bases? Alter them all in some way? Or, perhaps, just destroy them outright and remove them from circulation. I now think the latter is the best course of action, unless I can bequeath them to a collector who would share my view of the integrity of the work.
July 4, 2010 at 11:06 pm #10750want to create a “mithril inheritance program”?
about long term future, I don’t think about it too much… things are meant to change everytime… if you don’t plan to sell copies in the next 20 years then I don’t think you have to worry at all…Honestly I think many things will have changed in 20 years….
July 5, 2010 at 12:10 am #10752Yes, this is true. I’ve already given thought to giving my collection to others in 30 years or so, but who can say what the future will hold? Perhaps a Tolkien or Mithril “museum” will emerge that can house a great many collections.
July 5, 2010 at 6:28 am #10758I’m thinking of having mine buried with me, along with a copy of LOTR and a barrel of scrumpy..

Perhaps they will value these things, one can not be certain. They will decide for themselves eventually and my guess is that they will share your interests. And I also share the other issue you mention. Anyway, to me it seems useless to worry about the fate of a recast 20 or 30 years from now. Don’t destroy anything. Whether people approve or not these, too, are now part of Mithril history and might yet find a place in that future museum! I, too was thinking of taking mine with me, Barli, though I would need a Viking longship to carry them and the additional scrumpy required.
July 5, 2010 at 6:49 am #10760Yes, a Mithril Museum is something I’d also consider as a worthy goal somewhere in future … (would also prevent air, water, or ground pollution resulting from the various burial rituals proposed).
July 5, 2010 at 7:27 am #10762Mithril faerylands was the first step of a Mithril Museum project I have had for more than 6 years…. the Man is aware of that and that’s why he helps me with my collection at times…. My figurines are not for me alone… I plan to make , first a virtual museum, then when time and money allows, a real one… since the old Spanish one (juesgos sin fronteras) seems to have disappeared and it seems the PA factory/museum is far from complete…
so yes… I have had this museum project in my mind for years… and this site is the first step towards it…
July 5, 2010 at 1:40 pm #10769Mithril museum… This a a place were all my dioramas would end up if it exists one day.
I feel my kids and best friend (a JRRT fan) may inherit some but I cannot not force them to keep daddy’s miniatures.July 5, 2010 at 1:56 pm #10773I checked “my Ebay”.
I won CT’s auction on M60. :cool::cool::cool:
Finally I get this very nice hobbit adventurer.July 5, 2010 at 2:13 pm #10777M33 auction on ebay: 180528370680
July 5, 2010 at 3:36 pm #10780Great Milo….. I’ve won 2 figures too, but I’m not sure who was on the other side: I hope non of you guys… figures were MW336 orcs…
July 5, 2010 at 5:54 pm #10789That was me and another bidder trying to get those two orcs
July 5, 2010 at 6:05 pm #10790Yesterday was the Independence Day Holiday in the USA so many bidders were probably not near there computors during the auction. When I saw that prices were low, I bid on 5 or 6 that I had not intended to bid on originally.
July 5, 2010 at 7:46 pm #10792I’m sorry Master Shady… I really sorry… I hate bidding when friends from MMP are on other side…. but you can’t know…. all names are under some kind of codes….
July 5, 2010 at 7:56 pm #10794I do not mind at all. You wanted it more, you bid higher, that is the way it goes. i already have one standard bearer and two with horns, I was going to use the standard beared in a conversion, I will get plenty of chances in the future.
July 6, 2010 at 3:47 pm #10837Many MIB minis here.
No auction, just buy what you need:
