I only wish he would – as I’ve said before, so long as they’re disguised by being given names that dissociate them from LOTR then everyone would be happy and we’d have easy access to The Man’s “forbidden” masterpieces – and it would entirely undermine the ‘piracy’ problem at the same time. QED.
August 24, 2010 at 11:08 pm #11581The Man has added the missing archer . . . Still not the “complete” range, isn´t it . . .
If I am not wrong, it is C3A and C8D missing . . .[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/32_c3a_black.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/32_c3a_black.jpg[/imgz] [imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/32_c8d_black.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/32_c8d_black.jpg[/imgz]
August 25, 2010 at 9:57 am #11587Mind that there should be shields with the last two, Master Rita.de.
August 25, 2010 at 2:42 pm #11589There are not to be seen on the photographies, but that means not that they don´t exist . . .
August 25, 2010 at 3:32 pm #11590If anyone is interested in what the whole (still existing) set looks like you might use Master Gildor’s “Mithril Gallery” and there in the thread, called ‘Uniques’, you’ll find a lot of pics of that ‘lost army’.
August 27, 2010 at 11:54 am #11623August 27, 2010 at 11:55 am #11624August 27, 2010 at 11:57 am #11625August 27, 2010 at 12:58 pm #11629mmhh well, depending the price I may be interested in the M3 and M15 but I already have them, so if anybody needs them please tell me I won’t bid at all
August 27, 2010 at 6:00 pm #11636me too…. so old figures still in blisters… nice opportunity for all who need those figures….
August 27, 2010 at 9:36 pm #11638well, the big auction ended… $425, approximatly 520€…. well I can now say this is the most expensive “reference” after the Aragorn, I don’t think M16 got up to this price ever…. (and I can tell you that the white prototypes I have do not reach such a price individually either, well they might.. if put on ebay indeed…)
anyway…. congratulations to the winner, if he is among us
August 28, 2010 at 6:15 am #11640Well I think the buyer can consider him/herself lucky to have got them at that price – about £21 per figure – when you consider what individual MWs have sold for on occasion!
Can they really be regarded as one “reference”? This was a one-off lot, and such a collection is unlikely to ever appear again, unless The Man casts any more. Surely they should still be considered as 20 individual figures sold together, the same as any other bulk lot that appears on eBay.
August 28, 2010 at 8:03 am #11641true enough master barliman, but they all belong to a single reference number : [mith]MW346[/mith] actually (though historically everybody including the Man calls them MW347… while these are the dwarves)
if I have to put a price for the “reference” in the references database, now I have one to submit
August 28, 2010 at 9:48 am #11642You’re right, of course. I hadn’t thought of it that way.
August 28, 2010 at 10:00 am #11643I would say, both of you are right. Master Barliman as well.
Follow his thought it is true saying, that the price – regarding it for each single figure – is quiete moderate . . .
I have paid for the few ones I possesses more than the double of 21 € . . .Returning to Gildor, it is the first time that those Halforcs appear as A collectivity, isn´t it.
As far as I am concerned I know them only as single figures . . .August 28, 2010 at 11:23 am #11644well actually my half-orcs (whole set) and iron hill dwarves (full set “so far”) are “a collectivity” for me, quite astrange one
they inhabit a small metal-bound aluminium attaché-case with digicodes which is hidden somewhere at home LOL
August 28, 2010 at 12:54 pm #11645Master Archer, the halforcs has been sold as single set’s of 3 and set’s of 4 minis and you are right, this is the first time Chris offered the whole set of 20 figures.
August 28, 2010 at 1:49 pm #11646How much did they cumulatively cost if you bought the individual groups of 3 and 4 as The Man put them up for sale? (I don’t know what some groups cost on eBay, because I got some of mine direct from Chris.) Was it as much as the price this ‘set’ went for?
August 28, 2010 at 4:40 pm #11647Hard to answer, Master Barliman. Keep in mind that the conditions of selling the sets cannot be compared.
The first time they appeared as sets on Ebay in 2005 they were offered as a normal auction (‘Angrenost guard’ and ‘command group’). Before that, I think it was very late in 2004, a single Mw347 was sold on Ebay. If I remember well that figure went for about 100 € then. Well, it was the first figure of that army that then has ever seen the light.
After offering the very firsts sets of that army (s.a.) The Man chose to sell further sets at a “Buy-it-now-auction” on Ebay. – I do hope we all know why – and therefore have a very good reason to pay him our dearest respect.
Mind, that a few figures were also passed away as a gift.Master Barliman, I don’t understand the sentence in your last entry which you put in brackets.
I can be sure (and even can confirm by keeping old receipts) that all the figures of the MW347 I use to host came from The Man directly. So, sometimes a simple receipt could turn out to be a kind of ‘certificate’.
So, in the end I think it isn’t possible to sort out a price for a single figure or set of that army. The only thing you could have done about this is to keep record about each and every figure ever sold on Ebay and then trying to find the avarage price.
August 28, 2010 at 4:57 pm #11648But wasn’t the entire “set” eventually sold by The Man as groups of three or four figures on a Buy It Now basis, including the famous pikeman in a crested helm? I’m relying on my memory here, and needless to say it isn’t as young as it was and tends to play me tricks sometimes.
And by the way, you’ve answered my remark in brackets in your reply – some of the figures went to people as gifts.
