It doesn’t spend your money. It just makes the bid for you. It’s like using Ebay’s automatic bidder, only it saves you at least one bid.
September 12, 2010 at 6:46 pm #11953still I won’t use it… i consider it unfair… either I really want an item and I wake up to bid on it at the last seconds if need be, or I don’t want it that much and I place a bid and nevermind if I loose…
but auction-stealing is not something I like at all
September 13, 2010 at 2:04 am #11959well $23.50 for 11 very old figurines of which some are quite rare to come by it seems… that’s not a high price I think…
well I’m glad I did not wake up in the night for nothing
September 13, 2010 at 4:18 am #11960Congratulations!
If anyone comes across a Legends Celtiques set, give me a heads up!
September 13, 2010 at 8:26 am #11963I’m interested in Legendes Celtiques too if any (though I have several but not in set)
September 13, 2010 at 2:04 pm #11965Not a bad price at all.
September 13, 2010 at 5:05 pm #11972indeed most of all if you consider they are still blistered, which is quite rare for such “elder” figurines
September 13, 2010 at 5:34 pm #11973Well, that answers the question: what was CH10?
(Female Adventurer!)September 13, 2010 at 6:33 pm #11974well no, it was CH11 we did not know about… we still don’t
September 14, 2010 at 2:50 pm #11978Just for the record — regarding the MW347 army set, did anyone notice that the Man actually sold two of them end of last month? How many of them do exist, I wonder …

140446030567September 14, 2010 at 3:55 pm #11979I often wonder the same thing. Doing some maths of the total sales of every figure might prove quite instructive.
September 14, 2010 at 4:44 pm #11985I also kept wondering about this indeed, Barliman. And be sure it’s not the first time I do that.
Protozeus, I did not witness that at all, because I don’t have the time to be linked to Ebay all day (and have no interest in doing that).
The fact that one (more or less complete) batch of that army was offered lately left me angry. No, I have to be precise: extremely angry. That’s because of the fact that I once was told about the number of that castings (several times, in different emails, with long periods of time in between purchasing the different sets of the army that were first offered).
Yes, calculating or even guessing about those castings now became a nonsense to me.
As far as I can see all those “27 test-castings” (sic!!!) of each figures are not sold by now. And believe me … I do keep some record about that.Of course I will not reveil in public here what my anger is about, but I really cannot stay from quoting and referring to this:
“These are 3 castings from the never-released “Armies of Saruman” Warbands series made by Mithril miniatures. Although numbering the Mithril series as Mw347 this release was never put into production.” ……….. so far we know, but then: (in bold print)
THIS IS THE VERY LAST SET WHICH I HAVE AND WHICH I AM RE-LISTING DUE TO THE NON-PAYMENT OF THE BUYER
This group comprises the Half-orc command, namely a Half-orc officer, standard-bearer and drummer.”So what? – I’m not willing to broadcast any more information about this here. But I am more than surprised now having to learn that there obviously are more so-called test-castings being made (or even re-made) as there once were announced and confirmed in various emails.
If I had known that in those days in 2005 I could have saved a lot of money buying them nowadays. So, we’ll see in the end how many test-castings do still exist, or might re-exist – I dunno, and please don’t ask me any more about it, as for me this seems to be a kind of miracle.
I’d better walk down to my cellar and melt that stuff completely. At least then I’ll have a nice boiling liquid which I can get rid off next Monday.
Cheers.September 14, 2010 at 4:52 pm #11987Well I can tell you for sure it wasn’t me!!!!
But someone seems not to be able to make up his mind about how many of these guys where cast… or still being cast….:rolleyes:September 14, 2010 at 4:54 pm #11989Ahem, only for the record, one set was sold to Master shadyt aside from ebay if I’m not mistaken…
September 14, 2010 at 5:52 pm #11991I want to say for the record that my set did come from THE MAN himself.
September 14, 2010 at 6:19 pm #11993Of course it wasn’t you, Holger. The seller on Ebay could clearly be identified.
I am not interested any more in where things go to and to whom and under which conditions, via Ebay, privately or not at all.
What angers me is the fact that I from now on cannot believe in words like “very last set”, or believe in provided numbers of limited test-castings as they were once announced … Of course, there obviously seems to be more “second-test castings” as we might have believed to exist many years ago. Just wait awhile … do you know about a “very, very last set of the third test-castings”? – What is it?
And just to be honest, I don’t mind any more if another “very last set” of some other “very lost things” suddenly see the light. Having witnessed about five years later that some of those “lost things” see a new light in its completeness as never before (betraying the first given numbers of releases, which once was announced as “not much more than 27 test-castings for each figure” – even less than the M16″). This by now has become very much ridiculous to me.
So we mind the language, please.
“Not much more than …” also could mean 30 or 300, right?
Saying “the very last set of the command group of the army” does not necessarily mean that there won’t be any army-releases, right?
So all’s fine. Except the numbers of production that once were provided with the first auctions on Ebay.
As for me, as I said before, I don’t mind any more. Let’s have another “complete army set” appear on Ebay or in private. Why not? There are so many collectors and wargamers being keen on that. Why not suddenly find some more sets (forgotten in some garrage).
I will stay from commenting this furtheron, I hope you do understand.
That’s all I can say from my point of view … please accept.September 14, 2010 at 6:24 pm #11994Shadyt, I know of that.
That’s not what I was talking about. My sets (all parts of the army) also were bought from him directly. This is not about what The Man calls ‘piracy’. This, to me, is about honesty. Sorry.September 14, 2010 at 6:27 pm #11996there is one thing here…
the description of the lastly sold sets does not say these are the “last test castings” or “original” or “prototype” castings at all…
and Chris Tubb, since these were an aborted project by Mithril who eventually paid for a licence for these even if they did not used it…, well Chris has FULL right on these… and as their creator, he has the full right to recast them at his will now if he wants…
my theory is that those sets are genuine from the fact they have been made, and cast by the man, but these may NOT be original castings… but later castings…. Remember that Chris is also a caster in addition to sculptor… and it is not piracy to reproduce your own creation, and sell something you have acquired the licence to make…
I may not know all the things about copyright for this set but I am quite 100% sure these sets are “recasts” made by the Man himself which makes them “genuine” but not “original batch”
(like Morlas… there are only 4 original ones… all the others ones are copies… and recasts)
and I own an original… and a copy… there is no difference!September 14, 2010 at 8:36 pm #11999…what is difference between original castings and last castings ? Casting is casting no relevant to left clarifications like “last set” or “finally last of the last”… or so on ! I understand Chris but also I understand all of us. Some of you have “Original first casting” some of us do not have it, or some now have last found casting in drawer like those one from Master Shady… I would like to have this figures but with this price of 500 Euros I can not afford it… not jet… also if the Chris have possibilities to recast his original work it is completely fair since he’s made them in original, he own them and he could send them to us who still do not have it for some reasonable price… this figures are great and rare… but it will be fair to know how many of those castings are still available. I’m support Master Theobald and his anger. If you are passionate collector and you live 100% with this love it is fair to know what is with those figures. How many of them are exist or not…. I have Morlas too, Chris gave me this little squirrel as gift when I was bought from him PM1 and for me does it not relevant if this is one of 4 original copies or it is just recast of his work. He have mould and he could do with Morlas and with those half orcs whatever he wants to do. But it is fair that his followers, like we are, know some facts about that. Finally those figure will left some kind of legacy to someone one day…
September 15, 2010 at 6:51 am #12001Though understandable from a commercial point of view, I share the anger about this. And I doubt that first or second castings could really be distinguished. Another marketing example from the archives, strongly indicating uniqueness (at that time ), apparently to fuel sales (“exist …, all of which”):
“Theses are castings of 4 Half-orc soldiers from the un-released “Armies of Saruman” Warbands series made by Mithril Miniatures. Although numbered in the Mithril series as Mw347 this release was never put into production. Only a small number of test-castings exist for these figures, all of which I am putting up on today’s buy-it-now auction.”
