October 18, 2010 at 4:15 pm #12418Supposedly the molds MX figures are destroyed/canceled and delivered to the person/s who financed the project …..
October 18, 2010 at 5:45 pm #12419Yes, many open questions …
October 18, 2010 at 8:09 pm #12420maybe unsold ones?
October 19, 2010 at 5:36 am #12423But than there was 5 unsold figures sold by the Man in last few months, and on mithril.ie web is written “Sold out” a years ago…
October 19, 2010 at 8:01 am #12424By now I can be certain of one thing… Mithril and Chris are developping a sense of rarity…by flaging items sold out and let them gain rarity before selling them again because they “had found” some stocks…
that’s what they did with Turin Turambar series, that’s what they did with Isildur Christmas 93.
besides you have to remember about test castings realised by the Man… and official castings made in the PA irish factory by Dan Joe… Chris may have done several castings for himself only before submitting a master to the factory…. all those test castings remained in his workshop in England and never were counted in the official number of releases … (that’s why they are unblistered… they actually never have been… because they are outside the official account)October 19, 2010 at 9:06 am #12426This is the correct explanation Master Gildor ! Thanks !
October 19, 2010 at 11:58 am #12428This might be the explanation and it would be ok if the miniature would have been designed for Mithril, but …..
I don’t think it is ok to sell “test-castings” of any of the MX because someone payed for it to have exactly this figure made and only the exact quantity of castings he ordered. It is not for Chris or the factory to sell any more of those figures, because they sold the right for that specific figure to the one who gave it in commission.
If you commission an MX you apparently get the destroyed mould and the masters (which never happened with Frumgar!). Therefore there should be none left to sell! Unless of course it didn’t happen to Fram either. Bit fishy if you ask me!October 19, 2010 at 12:06 pm #12429Master hsf62, Why you did not receive the mold destroyed? What did say Mithril?
Master Tree, do you not have received the destroyed molds of Imrahil or Unexpected Party?
October 19, 2010 at 1:28 pm #12432It was a great back and forth at the time. The only thing I saw was a picture of the “destroyed” mould send to me. Top and bottom cut in half, but cut in a way that the mould was usable still. I believe I am able to make this statement, because I’m making moulds myself. During time and being passed on from one person to another the “destroyed” mould could not be found anymore and the explanation was , that perhaps someone had thrown it in the bin. End of mould!
October 19, 2010 at 3:26 pm #12434As I was asked I can say this:
I also was part of that “Frumgar-Team” who commissioned the figure. As Master Hsf62 I also only received a picture of that broken mould. No (broken) mould, no masters were given away by the company.
In those days it had become too much annoying to me to worry about these matters.Yes, Master Erchamion, I can also refer to some more recent matters as the MX-Imrahil and the MX-UP. I can clearly state that I did never receive broken moulds or masters of the two MXs.
I have to admit that I never asked for them as by then I simply had already given up asking the company about things like that. This was because of the bad experiences I had to make with “Frumgar”.
I was busy enough both times contacting the company several times about those 30 extra-castings that were agreed upon – 30 Imrahils and 30 UPs, by the way. Two times I had to learn that sending me those figures was simply forgotten. Fortunately all of them were found (being stranded in some shelf). It really was the same with both of “my” MXs, believe it or not.
See, that’s the point when you give up asking about destroyed moulds or master figures.
Anyway, I don’t want to extend this here or go into further details. But when I’m asked I feel obliged to answer. And that’s it.
October 19, 2010 at 3:26 pm #12435beside, the very first MX…Fram… may have not been subject to such “contract” because it was realised as an “introduction” to the MX program too and it was already made.. and painted and everything, PRIOR to the release of the MX program…and its rules
October 19, 2010 at 3:29 pm #12436I don’t mind any more.
October 19, 2010 at 5:27 pm #12438……………huuummmmm………..
Thank you very much anyway Master Caster and Master Tree for giving us this explanation …
October 19, 2010 at 10:29 pm #12443It seems Mithril got it’s own rules…
That’s all I want to say. -
