Well, instead of spending 260β¬ for one miniature, I’d rather buy magnificient ones which are much cheaper !
And maybe one day I will find another attic treasure containing one M16.January 25, 2011 at 12:48 pm #14707Hope is alway around!
January 25, 2011 at 5:16 pm #14718way too much for just one figure, no matter how rare it is — but then again, i spend that much on a single vinyl record, so who am i to judge?
the good thing is that the seller had a very unusual ending time for the auctions — 11 am? many of the figures could actually be had rather “cheap.”
a few bargains i snatched, i hope they’re in good condition and can be stripped and primed easily, without too much hassle.
January 25, 2011 at 5:25 pm #14719The time of the auction was not good for the east coast of the usa either. I had to put in my best offer before I went to sleep. I won two auctions and lost three.
January 25, 2011 at 5:52 pm #14721Even for me who leaves on grenwich meridian, I was at my office, having a look between two progress meetings…
Well, I won 9 auctions, 7 were just initial bids to try to get some cheap extras (M2 for 1.99β¬ for instance).
Allas, that means I only bought 2 I was missing.
But I lost every auctions on references under M100, which is currently what I am most looking for…just because being at office…bad timing that was yes….January 25, 2011 at 7:05 pm #14723Well, on the other hand you cannot place auctions at a correct time worldwide. Right? So if I had to place an auction I would let it end at a time that pleases me most.
As for the price for that M16 I totally agree to what Master Gildor said about it. Matter of fact is, that figure is somewhat rarer than others. I personally think that it really isn’t one of The Man’s best figures, though I do like her very much. So rarity doesn’t seem to care about quality – as far as prices are concerned. – Let’s take the MS435 for example, which I regard being a wonderful vignette. So in that case rarity (M16) seems to be more valuable than quality (MS435). – I doubt this.
So I really can understand Master Milo saying that he better tends to spend such an amount of money on many more other figures he could enjoy better than just sitting around with a single M16 of which he’s not sure if he dares to paint her or not, because the loss of “value” if he did so. – Sorry, just thoughts.January 25, 2011 at 8:45 pm #14727Cameosis wrote: ” but then again, i spend that much on a single vinyl record, so who am i to judge? “

So in that case rarity (M16) seems to be more valuable than quality (MS435). – I doubt this.the rarity aspect overshadows the quality aspect, i have witnessed this many a time in music collector circles. if i love the record, i’ll buy it sooner or later, whether it is rare/expensive (later) or not (sooner). it’s the music that counts.
some things however, are so obscure that hardly anybody knows anything about them — which means that they don’t become expensive … odd, isn’t it?
for example, this was a 2001 promotional figure for the online rpg “everquest” by sony online, an iksar (lizardman) character/shaman. wonderful sculpt, and among my top five favorite figures across all lines that i collect. i only saw it twice (and bought both; gave one of them as a gift to my former room mate). cost me β¬ 3 including shipping both times (β¬ 1 for the mini, β¬ 2 for shipping).
other than that, what really helped me stack up on my mithril collection was a purchase of 25 mint blisters for a total of β¬ 36, including shipping (from france to germany, last year in february). that was an average price of less than β¬ 2, and it included
[mith]m145[/mith] / [mith]m154[/mith] / [mith]m170[/mith] / [mith]m174[/mith] / [mith]m177[/mith] / [mith]m199[/mith] / [mith]m200[/mith] / [mith]m201[/mith] / [mith]m205[/mith] / [mith]m246[/mith] / [mith]m269[/mith] / [mith]m270[/mith] / [mith]m277[/mith] / [mith]m278[/mith] / [mith]m281[/mith] / [mith]m294[/mith] / [mith]m296[/mith] / [mith]m316[/mith] / [mith]m334[/mith] / [mith]m338[/mith] / [mith]m349[/mith] / [mith]m354[/mith] / [mith]m355[/mith] / [mith]m390[/mith]one was a double, but i forgot which one. in any case, i’ll take such an opportunity over a single figure any time — with one exception: burzash, [mith]mx436[/mith] — i love trolls and they’re on top of my want list as minis.
the only ones where i paid more than β¬ 10 per figure were
[mith]m10[/mith] / [mith]m73[/mith] / [mith]mb369[/mith] / [mith]ms495[/mith] / [mith]pm496[/mith] (of these only the [mith]m10[/mith] was not in a blister, but it came with the blister card. the last two would have been cheaper if i had waited for them to show up again, they are quite frequently on ebay).this time i passed up on a lot of ral partha ad&d blisters, which i probably shouldn’t have, but i only could afford one of the two (the last mithril auction or the ral partha sets).
here are a few interesting and … unusual things people collect (i used to have a lot of banana labels, for example, haha):

nanana! nix gegen cameo, sonst muss ich meine trollfreunde holen, damit die hier aufrΓ€umen.
best funk band ever.
i have all their records as original pressings, by the way, yes.and they had a concert here last september — incredible experience, this will forever be a highlight for me.
January 26, 2011 at 2:03 pm #14762DAMN! I have been looking for THIS everquest miniature for years!!! I have all the others!! aarghgh
never saw it on ebay! I have (and painted) Firiona Vie, Al’Kabor, Nagafen, the dwarf warrior, and the ogre but I miss the iksar… (which is supposed to be Venril Sathir I think…)
(in case some here did not know I am an active player / collector / quester of EQ1 (and EQ2 since the beginning) this is my other passion besides Mithril…
I would never have imagined finding any reference of everquest miniatures on MMP oO
January 26, 2011 at 2:21 pm #14764. . . best funk band ever . . . We should talk about this elsewhere . . .
Seems that your German is as good as your Japanese . . . πJanuary 27, 2011 at 8:43 am #14774[mith]M28[/mith] in very good condition is here:

January 28, 2011 at 4:26 pm #14829Regarding those painted Riders of Rohan. I was the leader for a few seconds near the end, finished 2nd place.
January 28, 2011 at 4:50 pm #14830neighborhood sniper struck again (and no, i wasn’t bidding).
January 28, 2011 at 7:24 pm #14836….. pity Troy, very pity …There were some great figures and grate conversions between them…. and this price for 35 figures was not to high ! Approximately 2.6 GBP pro figure…..
