The odd thing about the Razarac figure is that despite its seeming rarity it isn’t actually very……. well, to be brutally frank, it isn’t actually a very good figure (added to which, of course, it has nothing whatsoever to do with Tolkien). I’ve owned one a couple of times – more by chance than by intent – and have swapped or sold them both times. But if someone is determined to own a complete Mithril collection I can understand why they’d want one.
February 28, 2011 at 5:36 pm #15611non-canonical, right, Master Barliman, though an interesting figure to me and people remembering old MERP – once I owned some 5 or 6, then I gave away because they couldn’t be tamed, and just kept one … err … about two weeks ago a new one, wings higher in size than its body, landed on my desk … stranded, somehow. I’ll host him, nevertheless. Maybe I should try to ask Master Darwin, if this has anything to do with the development of certain species … I’m not sure about this, to be honest.
February 28, 2011 at 6:01 pm #15616While non-canonical, he isn’t entirely “out there” either. The razarac is a fallen maia, like the Balrog, like Sauron, maybe like the Werewolves. He’s a lesser power, but from the same stock.
So a stretch, just not much of one.
February 28, 2011 at 6:06 pm #15618Thank you David for that comment.
February 28, 2011 at 7:33 pm #15620I’m afraid that I shall always regard Razzie as being so far beyond “out there” that there’s no chance he’ll ever get a bus ticket back….
February 28, 2011 at 8:34 pm #15622As for the transport system in Bree, Master Barliman, I think you can be assured that Razzie never will get a ticket to get here …. rhuoommm … “back” you said … so you sold him a return-bus-ticket ? … huommm … I didn’t know about that … but that’s you, selling tickets for a bus-line you just invented and which isn’t real at all … err, did you charge for it? …
February 28, 2011 at 8:58 pm #15624If Tolkien can have pop-guns and whistling engines in Middle-earth, then I can have a horse-drawn omnibus service in Bree. It’s just a way of earning a little more money than I get from serving behind the bar at the Pony. And Razzie would be buying his return bus ticket TO Bree, of course, not from it.
