That’s right Master Gildor now I remember.
Before I had a digital I used a scanner to take pics of minis and the quality was not very good at all.March 27, 2009 at 5:32 am #4673I have seen this seller before also, and think he is an FG member. Of course I can’t speak about whether the figure is authentic, but I think Master Ent is correct to suggest that questions be asked.

It is sad that this collector has to sell his Mithrils, whether he is American or anything else. It would be even sadder if the poor Global economy forced Mithril to cut back or eliminate the FG. Don’t bother with hankies, buy a few Mithrils.
March 27, 2009 at 5:04 pm #4676… and there’s another surprise for collectors. I’ve just seen the Isildur Christmas 1993 Figure being offered. I wonder at which price it will sell.
How does it come that at the moment there are so many rare figures (so many of the below 100 series) being offered on Ebay?March 27, 2009 at 5:17 pm #4677Perhaps the current economic downturn is forcing a lot of owners to sell off their collections. A great shame for them, no doubt, but needs must when the Devil drives etc.
March 28, 2009 at 12:11 am #4681About that M16 … Gildor gave a very good explanation for the poor quality of the photograph provided on Ebay. Considering that explanation it becomes clear to me why some details cannot be seen in the pic provided on Ebay.
So then it only means that the figure is more than “rare”. It’s one of the original castings.
Having had a closer look at both, the figure and the picture, I’m sure by now:
It’s one of the castings of the original M16. By now I’m sure about it.March 28, 2009 at 3:35 pm #4692I tried to take some pics of the M16 in spite of the bad weather …

then I found … those very nice variants …March 28, 2009 at 3:38 pm #4693The Master Caster once called her “Falconer”

March 28, 2009 at 3:44 pm #4694…then the banner-bearer among those ladies …

…alas, very poor quality of the pic (it’s becoming darker)

MITHRIL SDA MX421 LE 65 sur 130 EOTHED RANGER, FRAM Numéro de l’objet : 310130248766
April 1, 2009 at 2:39 pm #4750I cannot imagine anyone who wants to sell (!) that figure …
May 11, 2009 at 4:27 pm #5174I don’t think it is “juicy” but it may be an interesting piece :
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&item=330329340127I was contacted by the seller about the worth of this figurine. before he put it on ebay.. I told him it was not worth a lot because painted and only half a reference but he insists that this is hand painted by Chris Tubb himself and thus may have some value… So I relay the information. (I think he will sell worldwide even if it is not specified)
May 12, 2009 at 12:39 pm #5185I’ve seen that one, too, and was doubting at once that the figure was painted by Chris himself. I think there won’t be any proof for that.
May 12, 2009 at 1:09 pm #5189Well, I am coloured by Chris and I can proof it! But where is the proof that Chris has painted this mini?
May 12, 2009 at 1:16 pm #5191In front of me on my workbench there is a miniature painted by Lars Edmann. Maybe I will sell it on ebay 😆
Quaint things.
Well, lets wait for a statement by master Gildor . . . He seems to have contact.May 12, 2009 at 3:06 pm #5194Well I have no more contact that what I said earlier…
the seller contacted me after Michael O’Brien apparently told him to contact me. I told him that no matter the painting, there could be no proof of the painter (except for worldwide very famous painters who all have their “style”… like professional painters.. but they are VERY rare… and cannot be sold “second hand” by anonymous people on ebay…
Beside the figurine is not glued or unglued and not an entire reference….
I told him it was not worth more than 10€ maximum…. but well I just said I would relay the info….I have no more indication to give that’s not… what we could call a “juicy ebay” auction at all, nor a rarity in any case
May 12, 2009 at 5:00 pm #5198The only thing I can think of is that there’s only a hyphen missing in the description. So it should read:
… hand painted – by Chris Tubb (referring to the figure)
Anything else wouldn’t make any sense or just be ridiculous.May 12, 2009 at 5:20 pm #5199Could have been Chris Tubb the bus driver and not Chris Tubb the sculptor
I’m sure CT mentioned that he has no time to paint even his own figurines, BUT, that doesn’t necessarily mean he never has painted one or two, and passed them on.
However it is the lack of verifiable proof that makes this just an ordinary () Mithril figure with small value.
May 12, 2009 at 6:01 pm #5200Chris said he did “sometimes” paint some figurines… but he is a very bad painter (his own words)
May 12, 2009 at 6:52 pm #5205I agree to you, master Theobald. That really makes sense, Wisest of Ents !
May 30, 2009 at 9:24 pm #5504Incredible price achieved for this bid …. The prices of vintage figures Mithril continue to rise ….
Well, also “new” onesItem: 170335938039
