June 19, 2011 at 7:57 pm #18141I can shed some light on this topic . . . the attic of Mr. Tubb. In fact a few months ago, after a particullarly strong storm, Chris had a leak spring in his roof at his house. He had some water damage and had to clear out his attic, and other areas damaged by the water. In this process he found several lost treasures, both Mithril and otherwise. So then . . . it is not like a government that intends to mislead, but rather like a “Barliman” who has good intentions, but can’t always remember things!!!
June 19, 2011 at 8:25 pm #18142Hey, who’s taking my name in vain? I deny everything. It wasn’t me. I wasn’t even there, and even if I was I didn’t see a thing. Honest. Not me, Guv. (Rangers in dark corners are not to be trusted any more than politicians under bright lights, so don’t believe a thing they tell you, unless it’s accompanied by a lot of money or a very sharp knife.)
June 19, 2011 at 9:50 pm #18146Well, to me it seems that he is always selling the same references. So, the question is, does he have any other ones besides these particular ones?

June 20, 2011 at 8:37 am #18150Mithril Pin again:

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/greendragon_19/m.html?_nkw=mithril&_sacat=0&_odkw=&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3911.c0.m270.l1313June 20, 2011 at 9:29 am #18151I think he is selling always same reference because of his involvment in mithril life years ago was not the same as it is today, he used to work in Macroom too but from what I understood he then moved to work and live in London and sold his parts in the mithril entreprise to Lars thus becoming a “simple” sculpter and no more co-owner… When he was co-owner he could cast and make many prototypes or test castings while he was working himself at the factory… but this has been over since 1999 I think and maybe even before that…
June 20, 2011 at 8:59 pm #18159This means that all of this figures are stocks since the time he worked in a factory. Then the M7 for instance in a few years will have a value of 1 $. Who knows how many more those figures are in Chris attic… Maybe he have 50 of M16…. This is no good news for us who wants to have valuable collection….
June 21, 2011 at 3:09 pm #18172[mith]M57[/mith], [mith]M63[/mith] and more here:

June 21, 2011 at 5:56 pm #18180i doubt there are so many, but there is one thing I DO NOT know which I prefer not to extrapolate…
If mithril promotion and future presence in the market of figurines must me done by increasing the “general” pricing and decreasing the pharaonic prices of what are so far considered RARities it will allow for more collector people to come to the mithril market knowing that having a collection CAN be done somehow…
Or maybe… Chris destroys the market of rarities on purpose, increasing availability thus reducing prices SO THAT people can focus and save money to buy future releases even at a higher price… He perfectly knows some people can’t save money to complete their collection and at the same time sustain the rythm of price evolution for the forthcoming figurines…
I for one am aware he’d like collectors to have means to achieve their collections through means of big collection enthusiasm rather than big money… for many of you I assume, he has been generous to your collection when you showed him how deeply involved you were in mithril enthusiasm (not necessarily in action)
he values collectors and rarities, but not rarity rated on the expensiveness of figurines… he never wants to see absurd high prices reached for figurines again… but auction are not meant to be there to win money at first, I am certain that if he had found let’s say 10 or 20 [mith]M7[/mith] at the same time, he would have offered a buy it now possibily, but with very low quantity, auction is the only fair solution alas auction are indexed on money
June 21, 2011 at 5:58 pm #18181I’d like to point out that he likes to make gift and is sad and upset when he sees those gift used to make money even if he knows the value it can reach
as a side effect, releasing MANY genuine rare figurines thus reducing their rarity will have a good effect about piracy and pirats will eventually consider it is no more viable to make and sell copies …
June 21, 2011 at 6:15 pm #18182I’m agree with you Gildor…. but recently we always can see same figures on his auctions…. and about his gifts. He send to me one 4 years ago, and I do not have intent to make any money on it… this is my precious…

Which one, dear Master of languages !?!!?
June 21, 2011 at 7:10 pm #18184I just can confirm all of that, what Gildor said in the #1778 entry, definitely.
As I learned to know Chris Tubb’s thoughts the same way as Gildor did.
I even was furtuned by his generosity more than one time … just believe me.… not being sure if this is an “open” thread I would like to calm down here … if I can …
