I think the ideas of alternate things that could depict the first age may end up in a good way… I heard rumors…. rumors indeed huoomm, of vignette, of high elves … icy wastes….
maybe we should focus on those possibilities, can you imagine that? under cover word… that is so beautiful….
October 19, 2011 at 9:57 pm #20953Oh and yeahhhhh …. it could lead to the Island of fire and ice, to the Mount Olympus or to the Fafner’s cave….
October 19, 2011 at 9:59 pm #20954Under cover Middle earth…… hm !
October 19, 2011 at 9:59 pm #20955well it is more like a (quote) ‘Fantasy version of Napoleon’retrait from Moscow’
October 19, 2011 at 10:02 pm #20959…. I can only hope that it will not end in tragedy !:lol::cool:
October 20, 2011 at 2:00 am #20965I think the perfect Phaeton “location” is a sort of fantasia on the first age, telling a mythical story that echoes Tolkien’s great work, but can draw on other tales – like Celtic mythology, Norse mythology and so forth, visualising a world that is the mythic history of Middle-earth and the mythic history of our world.
Things like Beren’s outlaw band, the Grey Elven host of the coasts, and many other personalities and archetypes of the fallen realm would make incredible miniatures. The results could be sold as CH-style D+D type figures, or as PM style collectables.
October 20, 2011 at 2:25 pm #20979I would be interested in some Asian Horsemen figures perhaps Mongols or one of the other groups. I may wish to use my variag figures as part of this group, so something with the same flavor as influenced this style.
October 20, 2011 at 3:02 pm #20982oh, i’m with you, troy — mongols, please!
October 30, 2011 at 7:32 pm #21288Know what I’d love? What would make me cry with gratitude?
A PMC version of CH 05, CH 06 and CH07 – the Elf archers and “magic user” – I had the pre-cast originals back in the day as well as the mould. The CH07 guy was one of my D&D characters. But I just love the poses.
What I don’t love is my attempt to remake the characters using Prince August moulds. They are really tricky to cast and the results are all pretty mediocre.
I’d also love to see a thematic remake of
CH 27 – the male fighter
CH 21 – the female fighter
CH – 18 – the dwarf guy
CH – 12 – the two hobbits.Although that last is less important
October 30, 2011 at 10:22 pm #21293I’m guessing little folk with furry feet will be off-limits?

October 31, 2011 at 8:03 am #21297I am fully agree with your words, idea and opinion, Master Estele…. !
October 31, 2011 at 6:19 pm #21308I wonder if CT would consider (where practical) providing a couple of options with each figure, i.e. an alternative arm/weapon, possibly head choice.
I recall many years ago a French company SEGOM I think who released Napoleonic figures which generally came with said options. It wouldn’t work with every figure, nor be needed for every figure, but with knights, orcs etc. it would give a greater flexibility and possible generate more sales – we’d have to have at least one of each .
Master Estel, I too would love that – Imagine a range of generic ‘High-Elves’ that could be painted up to represent the likes of Feanor; the guards of the seven gates of mighty Gondolin (always something about that name that inspires me – perhaps one of the first mentions of Elves in the Hobbit when Glamdring and Orcrist are found
• Gate of Wood
• Gate of Stone
• Gate of Bronze
• Gate of Writhen Iron
• Gate of Silver
• Gate of Gold
• Gate of SteelOctober 31, 2011 at 6:46 pm #21310according to Mr Tolkien Elves do not like gold at all …

October 31, 2011 at 7:53 pm #21317huoomm … meseems you read books of that Man from Oxford thoroughly, Master Cameosis
October 31, 2011 at 8:13 pm #21320the fact the release are not tolkien related in name, I doubt the man will produce anything that is not “tolkien compatible” and that means he would not produce something that contradicts tolkien….
as for the names of the gates of Gondolin, the seven gates’ names are mentionned in some books (book of lost tales 2 if I remember well)
as for “alternative accessories” (weapons, arms, etc ) I don’t know if the casting facilities the Man has access to will allow for this… but I’ll gather up all the suggestions soon and pass them to him… He has problems at the moment , not at all figurine-making related, and it’s better to wait a bit…
I’d need to synthetise all your suggestions in one compact mail first though
October 31, 2011 at 8:24 pm #21321From The Tolkien Gateway (and presumably direct quoted from the books) …..
The Gate of Gold was the sixth of the Seven Gates of Gondolin. It was the last of the ancient gates of Turgon that were wrought before the Nirnaeth Arnoediad. The gate was similar in appearance to the Gate of Silver, however the wall was made of yellow marble, and the globes and parapet were of red gold. There were six globes, and in the midst upon a golden pyramid was set an image of Laurelin, with flowers wrought of topaz in long clusters upon chains of gold. The gate itself was decorated with many-rayed discs of gold, in likenesses of the sun, set amid devices of garnet and topaz and yellow diamonds. Beyond the gate were arrayed 300 archers with longbows, their mail was gilded and tall golden plumes rose from their helmets; and their great round shields were red as flame. This gate followed the Gate of Silver and is followed by the last gate, the Gate of Steel.
Re ‘xtras’ I was thinking if they could come off the same casting sprue it may be possible, but we will have to see what The Man says
October 31, 2011 at 9:24 pm #21322(damn, it will be hard to compile ALL the suggestions made here oO there are so many… maybe I should organize a poll so that I can flag all those suggestions with orders of preference (like was done before with the gray company winning the poll)
I think I’ll do this.. it is important to give priorities to all those suggestions…
