January 9, 2019 at 3:50 pm #37569HAPPY BELATED NEW YEAR! Cheers friends!
MZ – I bought the first one, and I regret it since I opened the box.
I haven’t bought any of the new ones, although I’ve been tempted by some of the releases, your comments, my own believing and an excessive price retained me from doing so.The loss of detail might be caused by the “sanding” made on the printed master to erase the printed lines of it. Or could also be due to a lack of detail on digital file or might be also a lack of resolution of the master.
I’ve seen lots of metal miniatures coming from 3D printed masters that are hundreds of times better.
Mithril has probably lost the quality seal on the whole MZ line somewhere in translation….
Editing just to add, that now I don’t even bother to vote on the fellowship, it doesn’t matter because the result miniature will be deceiving, not from conception, but from the printing/casting.
January 9, 2019 at 5:46 pm #37570huoomm … thank you very much, Master Maenas, for that very interesting statement about those MZ-releases … hom … as it meets my opinion very well … grrrrrruUOo°mmm … just compare one of those very poor MZ-figures with those from the old ones …. huommrhûom … for me that MZ-“mis-development” simply is horrible in each and every way … huom … sorry to say that here again – but I’m still angry about this … hom

Some of them offered new poses or vignettes not met before as MZ651.
Master Maenas, 3D polymer printing doesn’t need any sanding and the mould master at PA I met some years ago is performing the same “mechanical” job as for the M series.
One point is The Man seems less enthusiast in sculpting fine detail as before (as well as exchanging with the fellowship members).January 14, 2019 at 9:00 pm #37572Mornedhel wrote:I am not so absolute with MZ beside the lack of details. In fact I nowadays don’t buy a lot of miniatures, and I might have come a bit more “exquisite” with what I take home, because my wallet has now a narrower budget.

On the other hand, I had read somewhere, that when your master is not good enough, you can get rid of the “printed texture” by sanding the master.
(Sanding can be performed in a lot of ways)
I did not find the place where I read it, but here you have an example of what I mean
