This poll is the result of discussions between myself and Lars Edman himself…
As it seems that now, though quite SLOWLY, communication and serious plans are developping and discussion between Prince August chairman and myself lead me to suggest :

What is your budget? What do you think is the budget for other Mithril collectors? If I could gather some “statistics” on how much the mithril collectors would be ready to pay for Mithril (what is their budget) let’s say per year as it is easier to make marketing or business plans yearly (well the yearly thing is my idea), well THIS information could help GREATLY as it could let Lars decide what to do or not do or what Mithril can afford or not.
I told him my own budget was not something objective as I am a die hard collector, so I need to ask the whole community of potential buyers without a distinction about the type of buyer you may be…
Please, I know this data can be sensitive because it borders on very personnal matters… and one does not have to justify himself for the money he is willing to/can spend on a hobby… so I’d prefer this poll to remain anonymous (this means that you don’t have to comment on your vote nor to say you have voted at all) but I’d like that As many member as possible put their vote…
There is clearly no option for “others” but if someone thinks there are “options” I have missed please contact me in private I will try to add it (if it is technically possible)
(NB: I just recreated the poll taking into consideration that a FULL year of MS release is currently, at best, 240€ (without shipping costs (20€ * 12 if singles only) and providing there is, let’s say a full range of M regulars (one can always hope…) that would mean at least 10 references of around 7€ each at least so 70€ which leads above 300€ not counting any mounted , christmas, boxed sets, vignettes, or MX release….) so the choice between 300 and 500 was maybe justified…)December 31, 2010 at 1:09 pm #14247This poll is the result of discussions between myself and Lars Edman himself…

MX535 (180€)
MB560 (65€)
Chr2010 (20€)
MS537-538-539-540-551-552-553-554-555-556-557-558-559 (20+20+30+20+20+20+30+20+20+20+20+20+20€ = 280€)total = 645€ for year 2010….
December 31, 2010 at 9:57 pm #14253500 Euros is not so much but this amount is not always achievable. This year we have MX and this magnificent MB which was considerably raised the total cost but next year could be nice to see new regular M releases…. so it is to hard in this moment with this dynamics of putting the figures at the market, assess which would be the most optimal amount for fulfillment of our Mithril desires.
December 31, 2010 at 11:04 pm #14254this year MX + MB was exceptionnal and does not count as a “regular” year in terms of mithril budget…
Still a regular year should consist of a budget more close to 300-400€ according to me (counting 12 MS fellowship + 1 regular release set at least)
January 1, 2011 at 3:49 am #14256Well I hold every penny offer a yer fo mithril. I made a amount for 2010 couple of days ago. that comtaines everything as mithril itself and some ebay stuff.
I don´t have to buy every MS release. It was a special offer that time I follow the fellowship . . .
the total amount for me in 2010 is 475.86 € . This is NOT an usual example. In 2009 it was 258,76 €.January 1, 2011 at 12:15 pm #14260well 2009 seems more regular indeed with special discount offers the budget can be lowered still I think that 300€ is average (not counting discounts)
January 1, 2011 at 4:45 pm #14263Well, I think it’s hard to tell which year could be called a normal one or even being representative of Mithril-releases. We went through many changes within the last decade, didn’t we. – As far as I understand the question is about how much money someone’s willing to spend on Mithrils per year. Is there a certain limit or not? A poll might give some hints about such limits. But I think it won’t be of any help for calculations for a company concerning further production or releases when it only is based on a very small number of customers who are interested in the products anyway.
As for discount, well, I think it’s a different matter. There is discount having the “autoshipment”. There is a very special form of discount in connection with the Gold-Fellowship”, which means that you sometimes receive figures for free. So far there are two of them. That figures cannot be bought. So, which company offers you such a special “discount”?
Right, my arguments come from a collector, but that’s what I am.January 2, 2011 at 10:58 am #14269You are right there Master Ent. If you base your calculations on the 13 to 20 regulars here on MMP, then I believe you are not getting far….
What’s the point of having these numbers here and things change? At the Moment it is good for me, because the AU$ is at a high it wasn’t for 28 years, but this also can change overnight again…
At the present time I put most of my money in the renovation of my house, so there is only a very limited ammount for my hobby. On the other hand if I win the lotto all this changes overnight again, but this is as fictional as these numbers here I believe…:rolleyes:January 2, 2011 at 11:02 am #14270I agree with both of you.. but we can’t afford to put such a poll on the official board can we… it would not be authorized… the problem IS that we are ONLY 13 or 20 regulars ….
On the other hand, who, besides “regulars” actively support but also blame Mithril for their (lack) of releases?… those same regulars…
Those who don’t express themselves usually never participate…. or never complain… all in all that would not change a lot of things…
January 2, 2011 at 1:56 pm #14271All right, if it helps….
We have 13 regulars who have voted so far…:rolleyes:January 2, 2011 at 2:03 pm #14274I don’t know if it can help I admit, but better have something than nothing
January 2, 2011 at 4:22 pm #14276I hope my last entry didn’t cause any misunderstanding. Of course I took part in this poll.
January 2, 2011 at 4:26 pm #14277I submitted my vote with my own expenses average estimate for years to come.
The amount is much lower than what I spent this year. But 2010 was for me The year back on mithril after 12 years without buying any.January 2, 2011 at 9:09 pm #14283I know there are many variables… as I said, I don’t know if it will help
but the important may be to know what is the “average minimum” most collector are ready to pay per year… not the maximum….
January 3, 2011 at 9:52 am #14301As you have said, Master Elf, there are many variables. For example, I’m not part of the Fellowship because I don’t like buying pricey limited editions. So the money I’ll spend on Mithril will depend on the kind of the releases they have this year. Besides, it’s difficult to estimate because it will also depend on the releases of the other companies I like, they all come from the same ‘miniatures budget’!
January 3, 2011 at 1:16 pm #14337We can then lower the bar to skip this amount to 300 Euros (without involved special edition) and then let Lars decides how much to invest in marketing and increasing the number of customers. Any other discussion about those amounts will become useless.
if I’m healthy enough and if I can then afford myself additional sources of income, amount may be greater than 1000 Euro… this is most important variable here…. 😮
January 9, 2011 at 8:32 pm #14442I would happily pay 500 euro for mithril per year.
Last year, I probably gave them about 350 euro, and some equal or larger quantity to ebay sellers for rare figures.
This year, I suspect I will be giving them about 500 euro, when I have money and various other miniatures projects are completed.
