Well this is just a topic to ask you if you have any desire, suggestion or idea about new functionnalities to add to the Mithril Faerylands website (both the forum and the main site and database)
I’m open to all suggestions, but I can’t guarantee the possibility to make them happen

May 4, 2009 at 9:29 pm #5140Well Gildor, isnĀ“t it the truth, that this webside is perfect ?!
But I will meditate around . . .May 8, 2009 at 6:07 pm #5154Well I think you have an answer Gildor, no improvements required
May 9, 2009 at 7:23 am #5158Huooommmmm … improvements … ? … what for? …. rhuoommm … all is at its best, methinks … homrhuommm … hom … well, with me there’s no desire, no suggestion, nor an idea … hom … though I was considering your query for quite a while by now … huoommmhom
May 9, 2009 at 12:02 pm #5160Rhuooommmm … hom … I will keep me rumours until the barkeep is present again … huoomm
May 9, 2009 at 7:13 pm #5162I’ll manage to find something anyhow…. I think the improvments should not come from the community side… but from Mithril as a enterprise.. I already asked them if they wanted the site to help them in any way for advertisement and promotion and ask them if they’d like any link or tool that could help that.. But the decision must come from them… I think I managed , with this site and this forum, to gather one of the biggest community and ressource information about mithril among all other fan website . I don’t want to show pride or anything about it it is not MY work it is OUR work from all of us.. but as a strong community and source of information maybe it’s time we can use this strength to support Mithril any way we can…
but I suppose the decision is up to Lars and Chris… (I asked Chris already but no answer yet)May 10, 2009 at 7:17 am #5164That would be a very good improvement Master Gildor.
I also would have a improvement in mind, which was available on the old MMP. I don’t know if this is possible after everything in here is more or less linked already, but we had a list of minis to trade or want, which was linked to the actual person. You could look up what minis where for trade on the list and could see who was puttting them up for trade. A lot easier then going through all the names and check what they trade, or what they are looking for.
I don’t want you spending lots of time figuring out how and what to do and spending even more time in putting a list like that in place, but it would be nice for collectors, not having all the minis they are looking for.
If this is possible it would be good also, if this list could be accesed by guests of MMP.
What do you think? All of you MMP members?May 10, 2009 at 10:34 am #5165mmhh there is already the “what I trade” and “what I want” in the profile as you well know I suppose…
Now maybe you have not tested this capacity entirely? Because if someone has put figs in their “what I trade” list and someone else adds this figurine in His profile under “what I want” and then click on his own link he will see all the members who has this fig in his “what I trade list”..
These are not simple lines in the profile it is an implicit search engine for trading…Now as you mention, that requires using it from the Profile window… and it would be better to have it public… I tried to do it but inside this forum structure that is nearly impossible alas (because I use a PunBB pre-made forum)… That would be possible though…. “maybe” to add fields in the database sheets themselves… I have to think about that…
but that could be done in a way that assures us “anonymous people” can SEE who has it, but would require posts on the forum to communicate with this person either with invited status via Esgaroth section, or via internal Messages system if they create an account
That would mean that only those who are members of this forum can indeed propose figs for trade/sale under their mailboard nickname indeed.. and a list of those would appear in a sub-window of the database sheet for a given fig…
(why a sub-windows : because the list of people for a given commun figurine can be long… and as you may have seen, the database sheets are rather full of text already (if we assume I am forcedto leave space in the middle for descriptions which are sometimes long… sometimes short, sometimes empty)May 10, 2009 at 12:05 pm #5166Oh, you are right Master Gildor. It seems, I didn’t understand how to use your wonderful creation. I have to try it. Thank you for the explanation. It is always helpful if you know how to use a “tool”.

May 10, 2009 at 12:50 pm #5168you can find a more precise explanation on how it works in the “guided tour of MMP” in the “new addon “trading facility”” thread
May 10, 2009 at 2:19 pm #5169in the meantime I know about something that should be made… and absolutly important … we should work together with Zoetrop on this matter… a way to inject automatically new prices for all the mithril ranges… an interface between zoetrop compilation work and my database so that’s easily updated each year… for the time being, last year I received Zoetrop file and had to check manually one by one each reference and set the correct price, if needed..
I’ll try to get in touch with Zoetrop to put in place a “protocol” to make this update a lot easier ….
May 10, 2009 at 2:59 pm #5170Now this is a very good idea, Gildor.
May 10, 2009 at 4:57 pm #5171Maybe a reputation score on the forum (if the software has such a thing) – reputation being earned by submitting photographs to the database, perhaps?
May 10, 2009 at 6:22 pm #5172oh well in this case i would be very badly noted with all the pictures I still have to display here or there lol
but why not that should be easy I think it is a punbb addon I’ll check that
May 11, 2009 at 6:27 am #5173Greetings Master Artisan (for you are more than just “skilled”)
In a way, we already have a “reputation” score. Only it is measured by our number of Posts. I assume that all photo submissions are considered as Posts, is this correct Gildor?
May 11, 2009 at 4:40 pm #5175it is.. but sometimes people post 4 5… more photos in a single post… and they only count as one then…
the post system and point system are not exactly the same… it is like the Karma system on the official board… I am still looking for a possibility to make it…As for the trading facilities I’m afraid my idea may be a bit hard to achieve but maybe I’ll find a way to do it…
Maybe a separate search engine with database answers other than the datasheets, but that would also require that each member has access to edition…. while at the moment I am the only one able to edit entriesMay 12, 2009 at 5:36 am #5181Hi Gildor,
A seperate database where the member can only edit their own lists is the way the old MMP site operated, and it worked very well. Can you duplicate that with your software?
As for a “reputation” score, how can we really measure it? Those of us who participate all bring different talents and perspective to the site, and know about each other. Would the Master Tree get “reputation” for his generosity? Or the Master Caster for his talent? How about successfully recommending a figure that is produced by Mithril in the FG or having a good idea? Certainly you, Christophe, would have (and do have) the highest reputation for continuing this website after Mithrandir was no longer able.
Perhaps “reputation” is something that should remain among our members as the real appreciation that we already have for each other.
Just mumblings from a dark corner of the Pony.
May 12, 2009 at 12:22 pm #5182Huoooommmm … with this I can only completely agree with the Man in the Dark …. huom … completely ….. huomrhuoommm … I think there’s no need for such a thing at all …. hom
