Do you know Song of Blades and Heroes? It’s a skirmish game easy to learn and fast and fun to play. Best thing is that you can design your own warriors (no “army books”) and there are nice fan-made Middle-earth based lists available for free. It’s the game I play now and I quite enjoy it.
