Maybe Ents have the ability of mind-reading . . .
Thank you very much indeed for these extraordinary and detailed pictures, Master Theobald. They say A LOT ! They give so much information !
That pleases me, gives me a warm shape in these cold winter days . . .February 10, 2010 at 5:41 pm #8794Oh I forgot this. The Man seems to be a professional sprayer . . . That pleases me also!
February 10, 2010 at 5:41 pm #8795It’s my pleasure, Master Rita.de. But note that I just passed on pictures taken by The Man
February 10, 2010 at 5:44 pm #8796I think he is a very much professional sprayer indeed, as he does not want his work to be spoiled, you know
February 10, 2010 at 5:45 pm #8797Oh yes, I suppose so.
February 10, 2010 at 5:49 pm #8800Thanks for the pictures
Is that the final floor? Excuse me, Master Theobald, but I can´t remember if I read in another moment something about the floor and its finished….:rolleyes:February 10, 2010 at 8:20 pm #8802You do not have to excuse for asking, Master Erchamion, as that is what you always should do throughout your life. – That’s the floor that will be delivered with the vignette (without the locator holes, of course).
I wasn’t involved in shaping the vignette very much; and, as I told before, I left it all up to The Man. And, believe me, I didn’t want to take any influence on his sculpting. He was so full of ideas and details that I was stunned at the very first moment when he offered me his ideas about how to make this.
Of course, in the course of time some details and poses were changed. – The major mistake in The Man’s concept I found out. There was a Gandalf without his hat, and that it was not anywhere in the vignette. 😆 So where to put it? – on a stool, a table, on the floor or even on a chair? … you see, these were my important contributions to the vignette.
And, as I said before, I did not want to press any idea of mine, as I had none – I think I was right with that.
So, in the Ent, I’m more than satisfied with this result … I’m delighted …
Yes, and it really was a pleasure to discuss all those details and problems with Master Tubb.
All in all this project took about one and a half-year. Though still we have to await the date of the coming final release. But that shouldn’t mind, I think, as it will be closeFebruary 10, 2010 at 10:46 pm #8804Looks wonderful, it really does!
February 11, 2010 at 12:35 pm #8810! thats all folks

February 14, 2010 at 3:17 pm #8828<--- huoommm ... 2010 ... (posts, I mean) Well, I think that the UP is about ready to being casted within the next month. Then they have to be packed carefully and transported to some post-station … all this takes time, you know. Alas, I forgot that one of the castings has to be primed and painted, as I imagine there will be some photograph being taken after that, but before the realease, of course. See, all you need is time. I re-read all of this thread again today. So, what’s left to say? The stubborn tree supported an idea. The Man realized it brilliantly and became very much involved in it. You will see that. The problems about the price for the vignette could be held as low as possibble – thanks to Lars Edman and Chris Tubb. I know it couldn’t have been produced at a lower price – though 180 € is a lot to most of us. Then there were conditions about payments being made … for those Mithril-maniacs who cannot afford that sum immediately. The approval by TE was not a problem, as the rights for ‘Mithril’ include “The Hobbit”. And this should be supported furtheron, I think.
So in the end (!) the Mx535 “The unexpected Party” is about to being released within the next two months, I guess.
I have to explain something about the last pictures I provided here.
Those of you who had a closer look will have recognised that there are three tables in the pictures of the sprues. With the regular release there will only be two tables, as you can see in the last two pictures Chris provided.
The one with the books, quill, and inkpot is mine, so to say. It’s that table which distinguished those 30 extra-castings. I did not make any suggestion about that table to Chris, so he decided to sculpt it that way. This honours me.
That’s just to answer Master Gildor’s question from Sept. 21 09.
From those 30 about 20 (or twenty-two) will be sold, but not by Mithril, as I have the right to sell them “as you like it” (William). So I will try.
Please, don’t ask me directly about this, as plans “they are a-shaping”.
Thank you all … and please don’t get me wrong … I do this because I simply like it … though … rhuoommm … should I better turn to collecting stamps … ? … rhuoommhommhomFebruary 14, 2010 at 7:27 pm #8834I have in my piglet money-box 180 Euros so…. time is not important in this case… I hope only that we would not wait any more …. to long for this beautiful piece of mithril treasure ! with or without third table…
February 16, 2010 at 5:23 pm #8852Huoommm … so it was confirmed publically at last (today) by Master O’Brian that the latest spray Mithril used to smear those wonderful figures will definitely not been used any more – though there’s a lot more ‘in stock’ with the company, as I might guess.
As I’m allowed to report about the ‘Unexpected Party’ here, I want to tell that maybe the release of the UP took some part in that process
Some months ago I pointed out to the company that I would not like to have that vignette being spoiled by such a primer. Before that I was in contact with The Man about this serious problem which he, as I learned, had not become to kow of until then. I asked to have the Mx being released rather without a primer to avoid that annoying work of stripping a bad primer before one can prime it again.
There was someone who took up all of this problem very seriously.
You see, maybe the Mx-UP might have also contributed to having a better primer for Mithril-releases in future.… at least it would be a nice side-effect … rhuoommm
February 18, 2010 at 12:18 pm #8857Right, Master Estel, of course the figures have to be painted before they’re assembled (as with any other vignette). I don’t think that some very small holes would make painting the base a problem. After having painted all parts of the vignette it might be an advantage to have those locator holes for knowing where precisely to fix the different pieces (as the space of the base is very much limited).
Of course I also can imagine to glue all those pieces at the base with some superglue without those locator holes. Having those holes being drilled was the idea of The Man. I’m sure he considered this matter thoroughly. But anyway, this has to be understood as a suggestion.See, some time ago it even was considered not to give the vignette such a strict scheme. That means that every buyer might decide himself about the way how to assemble all the parts of the vignette. This still is possible, of course. You just have to decide.
The assembly guide (including the locator holes) just represents The Man’s idea of how to do it properly from his point of view. But as so far I do not have a UP-vignette at hand I wouldn’t like to judge about what is best.
February 24, 2010 at 5:23 pm #8919You can pre-order the UP! Today!!!!!

February 24, 2010 at 5:32 pm #8922And I think that it’s a very good idea that only Gold Fellowship Members have the chance to pre-order, isn’t it?
