Marvellous!
July 14, 2010 at 8:58 pm #10965Thanks guys I’m really happy !
July 15, 2010 at 7:29 pm #10984Great picture. Great set.
The picture was even on the frontpage of TMP for some time.
This set certainly compensated me for the lack of M-ranges last year. Theobald also plugged a major gap with the previously unpublished named characters.
August 22, 2010 at 10:06 pm #11534I made some good progress today on the UP, figures are now fixed to their base, hopefully the ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ is not a train . I’ve modified my original plan but I will leave the ‘door’ open for a later date.
August 25, 2010 at 10:41 pm #11599I’ve decided to put some ‘in progress’ shots of the UP on the forum, just so you know that I am getting there (albeit veeerrrryyyy slowly )
Plan B
[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/11_up_1.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/11_up_1.jpg[/imgz]Part of Plan A, which is now incorporated into Plan B
[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/11_up2.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/11_up2.jpg[/imgz]
Planning the positions of the guests (template is a useful guide, but was abandoned in the end)
[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/11_up3.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/11_up3.jpg[/imgz]
Almost there with regards to final positions, but the flutist at the left hand side is now on the right between the seated dwarf and the dwarf carrying the plates etc.

More images to come when I get a few moments.
August 25, 2010 at 10:47 pm #11602stunning!
speachless!
well done!
August 25, 2010 at 11:05 pm #11605Thank you Gildor, I am hoping to incorporate two other scenes into the same ‘diorama’, one of which will be at the same time as it will be directly linked, the other I may have to finish at a later date .
As you may have guessed this is a view from the inside of Bag-End looking out, the completed diorama will include outside looking in as well
August 25, 2010 at 11:40 pm #11606I knew someone guessed it …
Thank you, Master Ddaines, for your thoughts and skill. This is what I do like to see, as it was the intention of that vignette. Master Tubb will also like it, I’m sure, as it was the first intention to arrange the vignette individually.
Keep on, please, that’s marvellous ….But you saved that massive half-moon base? I do have ideas what to do with it as another thought … to cut and use it as “The West Door” adding the MS-Narvi figure (without the column) the base is strong enough to let you do that … maybe some other Dwarves, watching and contemplating Narvi’s process. Could be another idea of a diorama, couldn’t it.
August 26, 2010 at 6:25 am #11610….. blink ! It will be magnificent diorama David…. I like the way of doing hobbit house… it brings me to my mind memories of my old modelling days with lot’s of dust, saw, rasp, chisel, lot’s of glue, tacks, hummer, ruler, protractor, gypsum…. ouuu those are the days…. of young life…. and free time…
and master Tree….. those idea with Narvi…. is very interesting….
August 26, 2010 at 9:59 am #11615Fantastic David. I hoped you will do something like that !
@ Master Theobald: yes, an idea to think about, . . . very interesting . . .

Now there is a thought , Mind you I have a small scene 3/4 finished in which young Narvi can be incorporated along with some friends (and a not so nice a friend, although he appeared so at first ), and the base from the UP would make a nice way of finishing it off, and would mean I can use the base to good effect. Watch this space .
Regards the UP, this scene was in my mind almost from the first – all plans pointed to this scene, and if I am honest I would have liked to spent a lot more time super-detailing it, but I am far too hasty for that – perhaps Master rita.de will come up with a little gem sometime soon.
August 26, 2010 at 10:22 pm #11618. . . and surely I would . . . 😎 nearly finished . . .

Thank you Nino, I was inspired in no small part by your own wonderful scene to get this one finished and posted on the forums, but a little more patience is required and then I can sit back and blow some smoke rings (or I would if I smoked ) and watch the clouds float by.
And I can’t wait to see what interpretation you come up with Christoph, you put much effort into your creations and the next one is always worth waiting for.
David
August 27, 2010 at 6:19 am #11620I’m sure that soon all of us will be full of creative inspiration not only Christoph and me. You are right example David…. Also, recently since I’m almost achieving my aim to celebrate the moment when I would fill in my collection of 32mm figures, I’ve start thinking about some dioramas. It was a quite time ago that I was doing last one….
August 27, 2010 at 9:21 am #11621So I hear that creative inspiration is all around! That sounds good. And that shows the quality of the art work here.
Right wording David and Nino.August 30, 2010 at 2:58 pm #11667Hooooo, David, thanks a lot for sharing your idea and skills !
It looks more than nice this hobbit living-room !As I came back from holidays yesterday, I only can say I started half the painting of 2 dwarves from the UP and it is not finished…
As I wrote before, my Bag end might be finushed by 2011 (or not !)November 18, 2010 at 12:18 am #13234Thought I’d best update the good folk of MMP with progress on the UP. I had hoped to complete by now, but I have been stuck on the lighting requirements . I have some useful dolls house lights to use, but now find i have ‘blown’ the transformer and as they ain’t cheap to replace I am looking at an alternative.
Anyhow, from the photo’s the secret is out – this is to depict the UP vignette from one view and the arrival of Gandalf to ‘recruit’ Mister Baggins from the other view.
The groundwork is Daz clay and as soon as it has dried fully I will start to texture the groundwork and add the remaining figures.
Fingers crossed, this will be soon

Sorry, the images seem a bit large for some reason.
November 18, 2010 at 6:01 am #13236The idea has grown. Very nice Master ddaines!
November 18, 2010 at 6:45 am #13237I can feel in the air the smell of Bilbo’s dinner ….
November 18, 2010 at 8:28 am #13238Speachless I am, and the project is not yet finished…
Master Daines, I have some ideas for you that could help Mithril if you’re willing to help I could discuss it with you and Lars… I think it could be worthwile… (now that I have a way of communication… Actually this fits into one of Lars’ Ideas already, as I am aware of some of them
I’ll EMAIL you later this week…
