I really like this blue box i hope they’ll be the same in the final shipment
February 28, 2010 at 1:57 pm #8944I wonder why the colour of the box does surprise you, Master Gildor. It’s blue, as this also meets some Mithril tradition. I have 15 blue boxes. I don’t recall when these boxes were being used (about 1992?) and when they were being neglected. At least there’s an MA1 Galadriel in a blue box, the old MS-releases, as Wolf of Edoras, also went in blue, all those Christmas figures starting with Gandalf in 1994 were in blue boxes until … I don’t know when exactly …
This box you’re referring to, of course doesn’t have the size as the others, as there is a bit more space affordable to keep all the parts of the UP.
I guess the box was made by the same company who provided the old blue boxes. That means a very safe and nice packaging.
Oh, I nearly forgot … there has been only one red box by Mithril that I know of … the “Mithril Fellowship Special Figure collection MA1 Galadriel” … but you know of that, Master Gildor.
February 28, 2010 at 2:48 pm #8945This is the reason (once more) why they call you “the wisest of ents”. I have never heard of blue boxes at all. Maybe for the reason, that i am a litle bit younger . . .
My first contact with http://www.mithril.ie was in 1998 ! At this time I have a telephone call with Majorie Cullen to order three fellowship boxes. Wolf, Celebrimbor and Gandalf with the Witch King. I was very proud indeed at that time, cause I received RED-boxes . . .
Anyway, always a pleasure to get knowledge of mithril history !PS: oh by the way, the foam-inlet of the (red) Gandalf-Box was baby-blue! Amazing!
February 28, 2010 at 5:50 pm #8948ahh, to be honest, I’m not wise at all … that’s just what Master Gildor once called me when this site was opened … I’ll have to change that once, as also our Mistress Wendy did … huom …
as for the boxes … I was never very much interested in it, as I always preferred the content … blue or red doesn’t matter very much, but it was the same company providing them … but I think the new one might have some light-blue touch in it …
younger than me? Master Rita.de? … who cares … just don’t haste your age …
Marjorie it was in the late 90s, there was an “r” missing … so I was a decade earlier to decide to buy some of those tiny metal-figures …February 28, 2010 at 10:38 pm #8951ahh but my dear Theobald, for French Mithril Fellowship… all the MS releases (except the MA1 in Red box indeed) were using regular mithril blister (red background) the same that was used later for big vignettes… So none of my wulf of edoras, gandalf and the witch king etc etc… have blue box
only Christmas ones (until some years ago…when they changed that to no box at all…
) did have blue boxes…
And there is the Black and White rectangular special boxes… coming with the three white prototypes of Galadriel, Gandalf and Aragorn…
(yes I keep track and never throw away any blister hehehe)
February 28, 2010 at 11:02 pm #8953. . . I kept the blisters as well, Master Gildor.
And yes: there is a white box! Once upon a time it was the Elven-princess Vignette which came to me in a white box.
With grey foam-inlet . . .March 2, 2010 at 8:16 pm #8980From Mithril´s web….

I received a mail from Helen (sales dpt at mithril) she used the reference name “MB335” not MX535… do we know what reference will remain? i hope it is MX…(though I would have nothing against MBX lol )

This man from Granada is always the fastest !!!!In the Barrow-downs I have to be quick if I want to catch any unwary traveler …..:lol:
I love the colour floor of this picture….
March 3, 2010 at 3:20 pm #8987I also received an email from Helen, Master Gildor, in which she wrote MB. I think it’s just a misprint, it’s Mx.
As for the pic of the painted UP, there are more provided if you follow the link in the latest newsletter.
I do well understand Master Erchamion’s explanation about why he has to be fast. But that might sadly also mean that there’s no “siesta” in the Barrow-downs.March 4, 2010 at 6:23 pm #8997As for the UP being released by now I would like to add some more pics. Just to give those of you who did not scroll down on the Mithril-site long enough.
With this I want to thankJoe Fahey
who did an excellent job in painting the entire set under significant time pressure – I think not all of the colours were dry, when these pics were taken last weekend. I’m afraid he had to spend some hours on this.
Unfortunately the pics I can provide here are a bit tiny. Maybe that is because Master Michael O’Brian is in need of a better camera
anyway …[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/9_an-unexpected-party-painted9-t.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/9_an-unexpected-party-painted9-t.jpg[/imgz]

I hope these pictures might contribute to give an impression of the MX-Vignette
March 4, 2010 at 6:25 pm #8998ah now I will use all the pics in the datasheet of mx535 in the database
thankfully I can put as many pics as I want for a single referenceMarch 4, 2010 at 6:49 pm #9002Don’t spend too much time on it, please, Master Gildor, as there are more matters you should care about. Ahem, Trees seldom give unguarded advice
March 6, 2010 at 3:29 pm #9023As for painting the vignette accordingly I would like to advise to re-read the first chapter of the ‘Hobbit’. There you can find some clues about the colours.
March 16, 2010 at 6:28 pm #9122Excellent reception has been UP!
According to the latest newsletter have already sold 65 of the 100 lots available for Mithril.:cool:March 16, 2010 at 8:22 pm #9125Yes, Master Erchamion. That was within two weeks. But why not? It simply is a masterpiece.
So far I also received some personal comments (which are not provided here) from people who have the box of that MX-UP in their hands. Nearly all comments also refererred to the perfect and unexpected “package” – of this box.
I do like that, as this MX was always thought of being something special, something that was never released by Mithril before.
I just have to thank Chris Tubb here again for making this weird idea being realised in such an excellent way.
That’s all there is.March 16, 2010 at 9:50 pm #9127Gildor Inglorion wrote:I really like this blue box i hope they’ll be the same in the final shipmentA bit ‘old hat’ now Gildor, but the MX label peeled off and underneath on the blue box is stencilled The Edman Collection, so maybe it is a case of economics and the company is using existing stock. Whatever the case I am glad they did as it just adds to the ‘package’.
All of the old specials I received came in red boxes.
March 16, 2010 at 10:23 pm #913165 !!!!
I learned calm from Master Tree, but in this case I better should hurry a little . . .
My money has been lost in the bars in Bruxelles . . .
Wasn´t there this mysterious “hole” under the sofa in the living room . . .March 20, 2010 at 8:48 pm #9150Vacation now, and what do I realize only now – when I set down to build the vignette in full. Huzza, two Gandalfs (the sprue is twice in the box) – and woeee – one of the dwarf sprues is missing to make up for it.
Just posted to Mithril, I am sure they will replace that one asap. If they are still available in two month from now, i will be able to get me another set
