€ 150.00 would be a good price considering the ammount of figures and furniture….
But still a high price for a lot of collectors. I guess we’ll find out soon.August 24, 2009 at 3:51 pm #6625The price has not been fixed so far. This MX might turn out to be a bit expensive I guess, but there are 15 figures plus some extra accessoires and the base.
Well, Master Caster, there is the option for a variant set, but things about this are not decided yet.
Gildor, I also considered the thoughts you have about the mould. But it’s not Mr Edman who is to decide about this matter. We’ll see … there’s time, you know.
August 29, 2009 at 9:43 am #6682100 dioramas will be casted … 70 of them will be offered by Mithril/PA … the other 30 will be a ‘variant set’ (as there also were 30 MX-Imrahil-variants, as you might remember).
So we’ll see how things are shaping.
I just want to have this “crazy project” being done. Well, I can assure: it will be done!
You know, once Ents have decided what to do … there’s no way out … they simply do.August 29, 2009 at 10:39 am #6686well the “fact” that there will be 70+30 is for the MX version of this set, You mentionned there could be a possibility of not breaking the mould thus keepint the future option of a futre re release not in MX… and maybe not as a “single reference” but several…who knows…
anyway… does this possibility still exist?I just hope I’ll have the funds by then to offer myself this jewel…
(NB : I just signed for our new appartment we bought for our growing family… if all “goes well” I’ll be indebted for the next 25 years )
August 29, 2009 at 12:42 pm #6691Huoommm … of course, Master Gildor, I always considered this, once I started the project.
As you might know I’m not that keen on those coiny things our barkeep always asks for. I really do not want to take any profit out of this. It was the same with ‘Imrahil’.
Rhuooommmmmmhuoommm … as you might remember I’ll try to do anything for our passion to be kept on. I simply was faced with this MX-diorama … then I learned about ‘The Man’s’ sympathy for such a-thing to be done … so I simply had to try to have it made … that’s it.
I would be glad about this becoming a box available as a regular release. But this means further contemplation and … you know …September 18, 2009 at 10:54 pm #6945>I really do not want to take any profit out of this.
This must be a massive investement on your side, and I really wish that you get out of it with something close to even. If I remember what they wanted for a single Mini, 15 of them + furniture will probably not be cheap.
Given the usual prices of 20-30 for a single mini, I expect the set to be at least at 250€, and anything below will be a most pleasant surprise. What I can see, its worth it.
A release timing so that we mere mortals who still cling to the coins can think of it as a chrismas present for ourself might help.
My compliments for mounting on that enterprise, and I am looking real forward to adding that gem to my collection.
September 19, 2009 at 9:03 am #6950250 Euros… could be real price, but maybe there should be quantity discount… 1.5% on every dwarf, 3% on Gandalf and 2% for Bilbo…. and this would be 199,99 Euros like in super market
jokingSeptember 19, 2009 at 9:45 am #6951Well, prices for MX-releases are a bit higher than those for regular releases, as you might know.
Imagine 15 MXs being done as one (plus some additional accessoires). Yes, there’s some discount. But why speculate about a price for the vignette which has not been fixed yet (and it will not be me to fix the price)? – This project simply is fascinating, I think. So I tried to realize it, as I know that The Man always wanted to do it … and this you will see in his brilliant sculpting.
I’m sure there’ll be more surprises about this vignette.
So, don’t discuss or speculate about those “coiny things”. As I said before, I just wanted to have this being done … and it’s on its way very well. All I can do is trying to keep it as “cheap” as possible for you.
Those who know me might know that I will not try to gain any profit out of this.September 19, 2009 at 10:38 am #6953so here’s the idea:
(trying to combine most of that very first chapter of the Hobbit in a vignette):a Thorin Oakenshield seated with map
b Gandalf seated and smoking pipe
c Balin standing
d Dwalin carrying plates
e Dori carrying plates
f Bilbo (confused and busy)
g Fili seated with fiddle
h Kili standing with fiddle
i Nori seated with flute
j Ori standing with flute
k Bifur standing with tankard
l Bofur seated
m Bombur seated with food
n Oin seated with food
o Gloin taking food from table
p additional furniture set
q large diorama baseWell, there should be an additional small table for Gandalf’s hat, as he placed it away … some rugs on the base etc.
You see, this is just a rough idea. I leave everything open to Chris’ decisions how to sculpt all this, as I would never dare to interfere. It’s his idea, not mine. I just try to support a bit.September 19, 2009 at 10:53 am #6954Fantastic! Absolutely …
September 19, 2009 at 11:25 am #6955Of course! A true marvel!
September 19, 2009 at 1:17 pm #6956Absolutely breathtaking! 😎
September 19, 2009 at 1:27 pm #6957And I really would appreciate the “small table for Gandalf’s hat” … this would be very funny.
September 19, 2009 at 4:40 pm #6959Yes, all this is about reveiling the atmosphere of that very first chapter … it’s just an attempt to transfer literature to miniature … combining all aspects of the first chapter in a single vignette …
but, you know, someday a dream has to be come true … rhuoommm …
ah, protozeus, I think that small table with Gandalf’s hat will be part of the vignette … and you’re right … all this is based on some kind of humour, which I think comes closest to the idea Mr Tolkien had when he wrote ‘The Hobbit’ … by and by things are shaping … and you’re not aware of what it is about …September 19, 2009 at 6:39 pm #6964Atmosphere with those combination of dwarves in hobbit house… for sure it will be fascinating to see those small diorama at every of our houses my dear mithril friends… just to see like it was I’ve put one picture on this topic. I so much love this beginning of new adventure that I was put some changes on this picture. My little daughter have chance to be part of the non expecting party in Bilbo’s home… and this is it… when I’ve first time had chance to enjoy in “Hobbit” since than I try to imagine have could be those party with dwarves, vizard and small interesting cool creature.. so now I hope I’ll would have to do this atmosphere in my room… also I hope that this picture would not obstruct this topic…. but I love this 2 love 100%

September 19, 2009 at 8:30 pm #6966a base! there will be a base for the 15 figurines? damn… this is no more a “vignette” and I suppose it thus means the packaging will be one of a boxed set necessarily (for a big base to fit in)
thanks for all these info master Ent they are very very informative and interesting indeed…
Alas I sincerly think that , at the moment, I’ll definitly lack whatever sum of money is required to buy it…
…which leads me to think that I should Inform Mithril as soon as it is released… to warn them NOT to add them in autoshipment or they will… and it will be too late to retract the money will be taken… (I “registered” for autoshipment for all mithril releases.. this includes MS, Christmas, Regulars… and MX… ) We’ll see how much it costs but that would be a pity to miss such a fantastic vignette…
September 20, 2009 at 10:15 am #6970Well, as far as I know that base can be casted (though it means some technical effort).
Call it a “vignette”, Master Gildor, or “diorama”, just as you like it. About the release I just heard that there will be some delay. But why haste it? I (also) think that whatever time it takes, the quality of the UP will profit from this to become a marvel. I am sure about thisSeptember 21, 2009 at 5:35 am #6996As with Master Gildor, I shudder at the potential cost of this set of vignettes. I only hope that it will be within the financial reach of enough people to guarantee that the project amortises itself. But for all that, it remains a magnificent venture!
September 21, 2009 at 7:04 am #7001we must remind that if the “saling” viability of the project was compromised, Mithril, Lars & Chris would certainly not have reached such a far step in its production. It does not take a genius in the financial or economical jobs to understand and know what a reasonnable price could be…. and also what price would not prevents the sale. (well, the recent “first prices” of the gamling’s army would prove me wrong here….)
They may, but I am not the one person to comment on that, have plans for future re-releases of the product to be sure the work and mould are not sacrificed …. If Mithril takes part in the promotion of the product by volunteering to produce/sell a certain number of those… on their own account besides what Theobald invested in… that could be both a good idea… but also that means they have to do whatever they can to sell them…
From what I heard, Lars is very enthousiastic about the project and is considering it could help promoting Mithril… That in mind, I doubt he would over price it… or instead of a promotion it would result in a little bankrupt..
a Mass production would have allowed the “set” to be less expensive than a MX but due to the nature of the project, I doubt it could ever be switched back from MX to MB….. maybe a MBX or MXB?
September 21, 2009 at 8:38 am #7003I guess Master Ent has the last word in this matter, if MX only or extended version.
