Is this already the Christmas Riddle?
October 24, 2009 at 4:55 pm #7509Well, first of all I have to say that Mistress Wendy’s eyes and mind are perfect. Respect, Lady
As for you, Master Gildor, you witnessed that Mistress Wendy was right. But you were wrong about an ‘intruder’ who would not fit to Tolkien’s writings.
There’s a simple explanation for those 16 figures:
Master Tubb was not satisfied at all with his first sculpting of Oin (lying down on the right of the picture – that version has been dismissed), so he decided to remake him. He still has his hair and right arm to be completed. So the one lying is cancelled.
Of course there will only be 15 figures and some nice furniture and … the base!
That’s all I know ofOctober 24, 2009 at 4:59 pm #7510No, Master Protozeus … not at all, the riddle is placed elsewhere … though this MX might play a major part in it …
October 27, 2009 at 4:26 pm #7561Huoommm … well, the ‘Unexpected Party’ is complete by now … I hope from these pictures you might guess Chris’ joy in sculpting this piece … to me it’s so dynamic, full of joy … all those single scenes could have been a small vignette of their own, I think … huoommm … but I also think it’s better to have it this way …

I hope you like it.
October 27, 2009 at 4:27 pm #7562Alas, I forgot to mention that the floor does have a wood plank effect inscibed in it – this cannot be seen in the photos well.
October 27, 2009 at 4:31 pm #7563sorry … second photo was this one …

October 27, 2009 at 4:34 pm #7564ahem … I became a bit confused when I received these photos … maybe you can understand … next time I’ll try to be not that hasty again …. huom
October 27, 2009 at 4:35 pm #7565Wonderful! It only remains to congratulate The Man and you for making possible this great work…
October 27, 2009 at 5:33 pm #7566…. no more comments ! 😆
October 27, 2009 at 7:13 pm #7568The hand of Aule at work!! Fantastic.
October 27, 2009 at 7:16 pm #7569Looks wonderful! Creates a real sense of hustle and bustle! Very well done. I love it!
PS: Are there going to be imprints for the feet and the furniture, or will it be up to people where to place the figures?
October 27, 2009 at 9:58 pm #7574Holy sh..*’# !!!!!
You ask if we like it, Master Theobald?! No, we admire it. There are even cookies on the plates.
I find no words to give voice to my astonishment . . .October 27, 2009 at 9:58 pm #7573impressive really!
I can’t wait!!About the base, I have the same question George.. It seems the “collector base” mentionned by Michael in his posts is, according to the picture, some bare half circle (I cant see borders or wood planks or imprints for “what goes where”) Is it still under “last detail finish” from the Man?
I admit that a “plan” or “blueprint” to know how to organise all this crowd would be more than welcomethat’s really a masterpiece!
October 27, 2009 at 9:59 pm #7575yes the very tiny cookies in the tiny plates, on the stool/table …. perfect!!!
(I hope some… talented crafters around here will be able to , let’s say, reproduce such furniture at one time or another as this is really a premier to have such a level of “dish detail”… even the poney series did not have such detail
October 28, 2009 at 12:27 pm #7581Truely a Masterpiece!!!!

October 31, 2009 at 11:38 am #7590Well, as for me I also thought of having this one as a Christmas gift for myself … and I will still “have to bleed” for it, too. But it’s really worth it, I think.
Though I’m not very much convinced that this release will be available right in time for Christmas … but does it really matter?
Those Christmas days with all the gifts can be considered. But how to arrange something unplanned, something unexpected?October 31, 2009 at 12:14 pm #7591I sincerely think Mithril should be on time for Xmas, because they are well aware that if they want to be sure to sell them quite well it will be as christmas gifts… (that’s marketing after all)
now that brings another question… maybe most of you do not care about it but I hope that the “packaging” for such a vignette will be a great one too (boxed set, with artful box cover and all)
October 31, 2009 at 3:10 pm #7592Well, Gildor, as far as I know
the MX-UP was never thought of being released in time for Christmas this year. The only option concerning time was to have it released before the “Hobbit-movie” might appear. That’s what the marketing-idea is about. – You see, there’s time.
The alternative you once referred to was having a start for sculpting this MX early in 2010 … mind that sculpting something like the vignette takes “some time” … so then it might have been finished and being available about summer (rather autumn) 2010 … if there would be no delay …
I asked to have it started very early this year … so we agreed and I try to keep you informed about this here, as you know.
So there’s time enough to consider minor aspects as “packaging” and a cover for that. As you know there are things one shouldn’t haste.
The ‘Unexpected Party’ has not left the workbench by now … there will be spin-moulds to be made for this later on … (maybe more than one 😆 – I don’t know) … so far I have no idea of all that … I haven’t even thought about letting priming the Party yet … to me it feels like Bilbo, being confronted with something unexpected … but be sure … I do enjoy it …
You see, Gildor, there’s a lot of things to consider apart from how to send and present this vignette. I will leave it up to ‘The Company’ for marketing.
Ah, as for a side-note: Gandalf’s hat is now being placed on a chair, not on a table … but that table with the books etc on it (on the left) will not be available with the regular release of the vignette …
That’s all I can tell at the moment …
I do not like to have The Man’s power being distracted from other things only because of this.October 31, 2009 at 9:08 pm #7596I see I see master Tree, as always you are right
we must take time! all of us
I was wrong and well, I’m somewhat pleased to have been wrong
I have to leave this habit of being so hasty…
well thanks for all the info Master ent, if you happen to get more pics they are always welcome!
