By all appearances, this will be a signature vignette by Chris, and certainly his crowning Mithril set. He seems to have really picked up his Mithril production of late (maybe the slow economy has given him more time to devote to Mithril) and I can say from corresponding with him that he seems very energized and enthusiastic lately.
Congratulations, Master Ent, for enabling this MX to be produced, and thank you; I can’t wait to purchase this set.
November 13, 2009 at 6:59 pm #7808Hey – just saw the newsletter! The payment terms seem very reasonable:
1. Buy the entire 15 figures + accessories + base for just 180 Euro
2. Buy set but pay in 40 Euro per month for 5 months (credit card)
3. Buy set but pay 20 Euro per month for 11 months (credit card)This is still expensive, but for 15 figures, furniture and base it seems like a fair price.
Available in January seems good too!
Congratulations Master Theobald!
November 13, 2009 at 7:14 pm #7809I really thought it would be far much more expansive.. this is quite correct a price for such a huge vignette I think
November 13, 2009 at 7:30 pm #7811Ditto the comments – I posted the same over in the Pony, most reasonable methinks.
November 13, 2009 at 8:06 pm #7812This price is more than reasonable for this kind of treasure… !!!! when we see how much money could cost some of rare figures 200 Euros is nothing for this lot of unexpected small wonderful creatures…
November 14, 2009 at 7:51 am #7821I agree with you all! Nice price for such a pack of fantastic miniatures!
It is indeed a very nice present for a “tolkien collector” not only mithril, because it represents the begining of the adventure!November 14, 2009 at 11:02 am #7823Yes, affordable this had to be. Thanks for your positive comments about this project. But, please let me also thank Master Lars Edman for being open-minded about this project and doing some calculations, and most of all thanks to Chris Tubb for providing all his energy into this massive project which he hastily (not in terms of quality, of course) created. ………. rhuoommm
November 14, 2009 at 12:08 pm #7826Hmm, I guess this is the most affordable MX so far. A single figure costs less then a figure from the M release. WOW!
I’m very impressed! Thank you to all of the people involved!November 14, 2009 at 2:35 pm #7828Huoomm … this is what I wanted to achieve with this MX … keeping it affordable for those who tend to buy the vignette … the first time having a release that doesn’t have to be payed for at once, giving a chance to those being intersted in it but not having the coiny-things for it in their hands at the moment as there are Christmas gifts which have to be payed for … rhuoomm.
But … we have to have something that reminds us how it all began in the first chapter of The Hobbit … there and back again.November 14, 2009 at 4:43 pm #7834Fantastic composition. And I love the price. Three kudos (and a cake) to our Ent. Well, and some tea to go with the cake.
I hope that there will be two left, for I would like to leave one in its original state (to go with the collection of my daughter later on) and paint one, preferably within a vignette of bilbos home. This is bound to become an all time classic.
November 14, 2009 at 5:07 pm #7835Rhuooommm … thank you, Master Axel, but once again I would like to point out that The Man brilliantly pointed out the atmosphere which could be re-read in the first chapter of the Hobbit.
Anyway, what’s done is done. So we’ll see when there’s time to feel those miniatures in our hands. – I’m really looking forward to it ….. rhuoommmNovember 14, 2009 at 5:16 pm #7836Rhouuuooommhuommm … I will have a nice tea with some of that biscuit things in a while … huoomm that’s what an Ent can understand … rhuoommm … them ‘kudos’ and ‘cade’ – words I don’t know what they mean … rhuoomm … sounds positive …
November 14, 2009 at 5:31 pm #7837… oh, I found them translation in me memory at some universities … rhuuoomm … thank you, Master Axel … though I’m not (reading: knot) … alas … rhuoomm … the tea and the biscuits … awaiting me tree … rhuoommhom
November 15, 2009 at 7:04 pm #7865Yes, Estel, you guessed it right. I really wanted to help and promote Mithril. That’s all there is. So I started. As I cannot paint well enough it might be the time for some of you doing that job. I am not good enough in merchandising either. It’s not my job, you know.
I just wanted to keep things going.
Well, and by the way, I’m not a master of trees and I do not wish to be. Just a tree.November 16, 2009 at 12:12 am #7882The “cade” was caused by an uncooperative keyboard, meaning “cake”. Sorry for any confusion that (self-censored) tastatur might have caused….aäaäskjdfaöl (döaa argl –

November 17, 2009 at 6:05 pm #7887Well, to point it out again clearly:
It wasn’t me who had any options about the price for the vignette. The price was fixed by Mithril. But I’m glad to see that the price is more than fair.
By now the mould-making process seems to be successfully done. So we await the first castings. Chris will assemble them to take pictures.November 29, 2009 at 12:08 am #8077Well, the picture of the UP released with the latest Mithril-newsletter does not meet the facts. Once again I wonder where Master O’Brian got all those details from.
I just want to inform you that the table (front left) does not exist. That’s the one with the books etc. It will not be a part of the regular MX-release. I have to inform you about this just to avoid complaints that there is no third table released with the vignette. definitely.
That table is only for those 30 extra-castings as Chris and I chose to distinguish them from the other 100 castings.
So for the third time I’m annoyed with this. The names of the Dwarves were reveiled in correct order though I asked Chris not to provide the “who is who”(and I can rely upon him). Then there were provided ideas about the base at a time when those things were not settled and solutions for that were far beyond. Now I have to witness that there’s a picture including that extra-detail being published widely without letting me know about that.
I am angry still … still angry?
yes, very much. So, it’s just to let you know that I’m angry.
November 29, 2009 at 8:00 am #8082Master Tree, I can certainly sympathize with your feeings. It seems that the wishes of the sculptor are sometimes not followed, and occassionally misunderstood. It is a sore spot with him too, I am sure.
November 29, 2009 at 10:30 am #8085I can understand why you are upset indeed master Ent, I suppose though that Mithril is like many enterprises and sometimes lacks internal communication, or “forget” things… The project will remain grand, nevertheless I assure you.
on a side note, is there anybody around, apart from myself who is in “full autoshipmetn” process? and if so, do you have any information on how this MX will fit in the autoshipment process?
November 29, 2009 at 10:38 am #8086Ok. Having slept one night most of the anger is gone now. Thank you for the kind words.
Yes, I have that autoshipment still, Gildor. Additionally I emailed Joan Collins (Mithril dispatch) just to make sure that the MX-vignette will be included in that autoshipment. There was no problem with that. -
