(well in my case and due to my current “economical state”, it’s rather the countrary that could prove useful, at first …)
but will there be a 10% reduction on this MX535 too in autoshipment? (well such reduction usually is just like having no shipping cost since shipping costs is 10% of the price from Ireland to France it seems… all the time)November 29, 2009 at 12:17 pm #8088All year I was granted that reduction for the autoshipment with every release. I do not see any reason why this should be changed by Mithril. Just because it’s an MX? But sorry, I forgot to ask about that.
November 29, 2009 at 9:11 pm #8106on a side note, is there anybody around, apart from myself who is in “full autoshipmetn” process? and if so, do you have any information on how this MX will fit in the autoshipment process?
Yes, I have that autoshipment still, Gildor. Additionally I emailed Joan Collins (Mithril dispatch) just to make sure that the MX-vignette will be included in that autoshipment. There was no problem with that.I have the same question, here is the answer from Joan:
HI The Autoshipmend does include the Christmas figure but it dosent include the MX Figs. However if you want to order the new mx figs you will get priority . Thanks Joan.
??????????????????????????????????????????????
November 29, 2009 at 9:31 pm #8107well actually that was the case for the former MX now that I remember… each time a MX was scheduled, I did mail the mithril dispatch department telling them to include them in the autoshipment. (some sort of confirmation for MX is required) but you are treated in priority indeed it seems…
November 29, 2009 at 10:46 pm #8108as for the former MX, Gildor you’re right. As it was me having submitted for that Imrahil I had to learn that that MX was not included with my autoshipment. Some weeks later, after the release of the Imrahil, there came up some doubts here with me. So I ordered two Imrahils directly and that went well and I did receive them. About a week later I was remembereing those 30-extra-Imrahil castings. So I did ask for information about those. They simply were forgotten though being packed in a large parcel somewhere in the company. Well, in the end the company send them to me and did not charge for post and package. – I’m afraid that if I had not asked them about this … they might still be left packaged in one of them shelves.
Keep fingers crossed that this might not be the future of the UP.
I just can tell that you better keep contact with the dispatch of Mithril. Sometimes it’s Mary Ann and sometimes there’s Joan Collins. But they keep record of your queries and orders.
That’s what I know of.
Priority simply means that you’re next in line.
I would suggest that those of you who really are interested in the MX-vignette should contact Joan Collins directly about conditions how and when to pay for that. That’s all advice I can give at the moment.November 29, 2009 at 10:59 pm #8109JOAN COLLINS ! ?
This is the famous actress who appeared in the movie called “Land of the Pharaos” or so and. and who appears also in “Dynasty” in the eighties and
who is responsible for my interest in dominating women . . . isn´t she ?!December 9, 2009 at 3:40 pm #8284Oh, what a day. I just learned (from the latest newsletter) that TE gave the approval (consent) for the ‘Unexpected Party’. So there will be a party next year.
But let me with this point out clearly that it was Chris Tubb who put all his energy in this project, and of course had to do all the work. It was him who passed on his passion for this idea in sculpting a lot of wonderful and lively figures and adding all those details. It was him who negotiated with Master Edman if and how something like this could be realized. And (I’m sure) it was him who finally made it possible to release such a vignette for a price that many of us Mithril-maniacs were surprised of. So all my thanks about this go to Chris.
I will not forget to thank the mould-maker, as this vignette might have meant some challenge.
As for me, I was just trying to start a light, that’s all. But sometimes people like to light a light in these days.
Now I’ll try to upload that larger picture where you might witness more of the details …[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/9_unexpected-party_large_pic.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/9_unexpected-party_large_pic.jpg[/imgz]
see? it worked in the Ent
December 9, 2009 at 8:58 pm #8294Yes, Master Theobald, I follow your expression of thanks to Mr. Chris Tubb! But don´t be toooo modest.
I suppose your part was not that little you like to mention.
“Like to light a light . . . ” remindes me a bit to “three thick thrushes . . . ”
Thank you for sharing a further pic. Meanwhiling I can´t take my eyes off of you . . . of that vignette, I mean . . .
( . . . can´t take my eyes off of you . . . isn´t this a song of mistress Gloria Gaynor)December 9, 2009 at 9:17 pm #8298I’m wordless. It’s exactly as I have ever imagined it.
December 9, 2009 at 10:06 pm #8302Hommm … the problem simply was having it sculpted and casted … and all there is about …
December 10, 2009 at 7:07 pm #8315I can hear the chatter and the singing of the dwarves already, and I’m sure I see whisps of smoke from their pipes, such is the way CT has captured this scene.
And yes Estel, this could end up so much bigger than what is pictured
, Bag-End in all its glory!
December 11, 2009 at 3:27 pm #8321Master Estel, I try to answer your questions as good as I can and as far as I’m informed about the production process.
The base will be a blank wood floor. There will be no locator holes or something like that in it. A blank floor means: no rugs or other details – though it was thought of things like that before.
The figures will all have small pins on their feet so that everyone has the chance to assemble the figures as he (she) wishes. So you just need a small hobby drill to make suitable holes to place the figures as you like it.
The tables will consist of two parts each (table legs and 2 plain table tops). That means five different dishes, bottle and jug will be small separate pieces.
Here I have to stress (again) that the third table (the one with the books on it – in the pictures front left) will not be part of the vignette.
There will be 8 small chairs and one large chair. The plate stacks two of the Dwarves carry (one with a teapot, one with a jug on top) will also be separated parts, as Gandalf’s hat also is.
With six Dwarves arms will have to be assembled.
You see, it’s quite a number of parts … about 23, I think. A nice jigsaw-puzzle
With this I’m referring to the inventory before the mould-making process early in November. Then I heard two weeks later that everything went well … surprisingly well, as The Man said, because only two figures needed correcting during that process. That was surprising if you just try to imagine that challange including so many parts being moulded.
So far there is no picture reveiled or provided of the first casting, as Chris, of course, first has to assemble all the pieces for photography. All of us know that he has been very busy this year sculpting MS-releases, a Christmas figure, a new free figure for the Gold-Fellowship, etc. etc, etc.
So, that’s all I can tell at the moment.
I hope this answers part of your questions, Master Estel.December 11, 2009 at 7:01 pm #8326December 11, 2009 at 7:22 pm #8327Well, Master Estel … of course all this is about a dream to become true … and simply that is what I wanted … as this one always was my dream, too, and not only mine. – But, you know, things you dream of, or which you like, do not suddenly stand at your threshold and wish you a good morning.
February 10, 2010 at 3:33 pm #8783So, as I promised at the beginning of this thread I can provide some more information about the process of the UP. As you know by now the first test-castings are done. Let me quote Chris what Chris said after he had opened the package about two weeks ago.
“I was delighted with the casting. Our tool-maker has done a terriffic job in sprueing and moulding the figures. They are very clean and break very easily from the sprues.”[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/9_castpic1.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/9_castpic1.jpg[/imgz]
[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/9_castpic2.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/9_castpic2.jpg[/imgz]
February 10, 2010 at 3:43 pm #8784So you see, there are quite some sprues having been made for this vignette.
Chris started to assemble the piece and that seems to need some skill, as the base is blank. So first you will have to drill all locator holes for the pegs (of chairs and some of the figures).[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/9_castbase1.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/9_castbase1.jpg[/imgz]
February 10, 2010 at 3:50 pm #8785The “trouble” is that the base is not endless and so the spacing in the diorama is quite tight and critical (as Chris said). So think it will need some time of accurate work to cope with that. Even Chris made a mistake once and had to refill a hole and drilling another one )
[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/9_castbase2.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/9_castbase2.jpg[/imgz]
February 10, 2010 at 3:56 pm #8786On the other hand I’m sure that all you people reading this here are very much used to cope with such minor problems as assembling parts of a vignette
By the way, Chris decided to write an assembly guide for this vignette, which I think might turn out to be very helpful. (I’ll not copy the version he sent me here as it might not be finished.)
So when everything’s assembled it will look like this one:[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/9_castpic_4.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/9_castpic_4.jpg[/imgz]
February 10, 2010 at 4:00 pm #8787Then Chris decided to spray the vignette himself. He finished that two days ago.
So here we have a first impression of the assembled and sprayed vignette.
(The release, as you know will not be sprayed.)[imgz url=http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/9_castup_sprayed_and_assembled_1.jpg]http://mmp.faerylands.eu/uploads/thumbs/9_castup_sprayed_and_assembled_1.jpg[/imgz]
February 10, 2010 at 4:16 pm #8789I hope you enjoy this information. See, who’s in the middle? Good old Bombur that is.
Before you start asking, no, until today there’s no final realease date for the vignette.
But as you might guess from this it won’t be in a too distant future -
