“During”, or “for”?
Alas my camera of these times got lost, so I am not sure where to find my Elrond pics.
I rather like him. Making a company with a single base was never an option, and I assume that standing around bored is far closer to a soldiers real life experience then action or ready for action. My main concern is the tip of his pike or spear, which looks – well, unrealistic. Its not a favourite, but I would give him 4 of 5 points.
Any news from Elrond?
It has been some years since he visited me, and his journey seems to be one of the more epic around. He probably is the widest travelled miniature in existence – or at least the longest…Was away in the wilderness, and still have promises to keep, so no ale, beer or other narcotic beverage for me this time. I will have a tea on you folks, though!

I only have “Sandbags End” from this company, made for the WWI-range of Halflings from Hasslefree:
http://modelearth.azurewebsites.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/P1010003-1024×768.jpgIts size is like its made for Mithrils. Alas, while the spirit of the Trenches ouzes from Tolkiens work, Frodo looks a bit off in this environment.
I lack any comparison shots for these, but I assume they will fit similarly well. Once I get them I will take some photos.
Edit:
Here is one shot I found with the Hasslefree Halflings, which are a tad larger and bulkier then Mithril Hobbits (though not much)
http://theminiaturespage.com/news/pics/2006/jan/21277b.jpgHi,
I found it inappropriate to post a link to another company on Mithril, but I found this village set at Kickstarter (just three days left) and thought some might find it interesting – if only to take a look.
I already have works from both the KS-running company (resin minis) and the designer of the huts (Sandbags End), and they are second to no other on the market.
THIS is what I want when I spend some bucks on terrain. Alas, the international shipping is a beast for the full set

This is the company of the creator, who will sell them after the KS is done:

I will convert one of these to put the birthday party behind

OK. Tried to mail to your old .au address lately. Will PM you
Imho a third of a skull with some branches and leafs is no challenge for the skills of the man. If I can sculpt something halfway decent, the man will imho be overqualified for that job.
I am willing to try this again, until something worthwhile exists, and then either send it to our mastercaster for distribution, or – if he lacks the time or recources (I pretty well know that time is a rare commodity) I will just send the original to Harald.
Of course all I can do is to work on a log with some eyes, without reference to any fictional characters – I have not the slightest chance to create a “Gollum in the water”, as both skills and the legal situation do not allow for this. If Harald wants a small vignette from the story, our fellowship is the way to go. Sooner or later tenacity tells and suggestions will find their way. Sometimes it just takes a while. Hirgon was suggested 15 times before he was made…
On the other hand I certainly do not want to interfere with an official release, so as long as Harald wants this in the official pipeline I will keep my version(s) as an exercise in sculpting
Well, now that the “log with eyes” has not won we can perhaps proceed with our own version.
Question: waves, or not?
I tend to yes, but this probably means I have to do it again from scratch, as the wavy underground would need to be sculpted first.Shall I move this to the “conversion” thread, or perhaps a new “scratchbuild” thread?
It certainly is a worthy picture to advertise the contest. Paintjob, conversion and diorama building are top notch. I hope you won something with that entry.
While I have most of their buildings, I find myself unable to find the time to paint them up the standards they deserve. Perhaps when I start now with a building I will finish it in time for next year.
Thanks. I will check this

Fine work. Where is the flag coming from? Greenstuffed?
Not so expensive, as there is no actual M16 in it. Its the mounted Eowyn and greenstuff. I would not cut down a real M16 when other collectors still need one
28mm – the Elastolin are too large to be compatible. I have sent these a longing look often, but for my mental sanity I just need to stay out of other scales (like 15 or 54mm) for my favourite topics (Renaissance and Mithril) and of other topics for my scale (like Ancients, Napoleonics or TYW, ECW, ACW, AWI, WW1, …).
That said, the actual mini was not so much work that it could not be redone on a wavery base and then sent to any caster to do with as he wishes (actually the upright branch could eg be seperate, and I tried to avoid undercuts) – providing that this suggestion does not win anyway.

I did some experimental painting on Cirdan. The image is gruely, but I am just not good enough for closeup pic painting. From around 30 cm I like him a lot – well, at least the plate, the face is, well, not so good.

I did a couple of more pics, but these were all unusable. I just get used to the new camera.
Sorry that I did not register first nor have images of the miniature before or during painting. Just leave me out of the contest if thats a problem – I just sorted through my collection recently, remembered the “plate armour contest” and painted him up next to my Viking Saga warband and some RPG characters. My first painted Mithril for a couple of years.
As technic I painted the armour black and just brushed it with acryl “silver” (GWs Mithril, actually, a pot I bought 10 years ago which still is perfectly usable and 90% full) and then highlighted it with alcohol based “silver”. The face is just washed, and I will probably redo that some day. I will put up some more images soon.
Regarding plate, there are some Burgundians in my gallery that also sport some heavy armour, though they are alas not from Mithril…
http://www.schudak.de/axel/bilder/minis/gallery1/Done, finally…
I used a tool to create a gallery and I am too lazy right now to cull out the other pics. There are some WIPs on my mounted M16, too – the right arm still needs a bit of attention and I have still to add weapons.

Sorry for the quality. If you click on the pics you get larger versions.
Here is my current favourite: http://www.schudak.de/axel/bilder/minis/gallery1/IMG_0752.JPGI am still undecided wether I should add waves.
Done, except for the waves. I am still experimenting with different ways to sculpt these.
Not sure wether it would be appropriate to leave them blank, as with the barrel rider, or try something.I will put up some pics of the unwaved version soon, and perhaps some attempts for waves.
Edit: I really suck in making good pics today. With my old cam I could make a good image just of an eye (which did nothing good to my self-esteem as painter), but the modern digitals fail to have a decent zoom function – or succeed in hiding it from me. Try again later…
